Under Hughes, he ran down blind alleys, made no chances and if something fell to him, his finishing was woeful. So far under Harry, and particularly today, he was showing some Taarabt-like skills, beating defenders and making space for himself...but his finishing was still woeful So he's half way to being the real deal
I am not a big SWP fan, but he is not a striker (as you said!), he is a hard working midfielder who gave 100%. The Scum-match has absolutely nothing to do with today.
He's not a striker inke. We had no strikers on the pitch today. It was effectively a 4-6-0. He can't finish, you're right there. 1 goal in a year and a half attests to that. But he's a midfielder who did an awful lot today in linking up play, creating chances and harassing Spurs. He'll never be a great player but he's a lot better now than what he was under Hughes.
Whilst the tactics were spot on today being more defensive, against 'lesser' opposition we will need to change tactics (which im sure we will). Looking at the full table today I notice we have conceded less than all those at the bottom, but scored less - clearly showing our issue this season. So the OP is right, we need strikers - which we all know, and have known all season.
Ssh! We don't use the 's' word around here these days... Don't worry, no one knows we need strikers like 'Arry does. He chokes and changes gear in interviews when our difficulties scoring comes up. Hesitates and says things like 'we haven't got errmm, all the equipment'! Obviously being careful just in case there's someone out there who hadn't realised we're a bit short in the final third. Fact is though, we had strikers on the bench but that game was about absorption. Solid stuff and it worked fine. Meantime I bet he's busting a gut looking for a useful couple of sharp edges. (Oh and... SWP is magic. Nuff said!)
I noticed that too! This goes back to what myself and Yorkie were saying on another thread. He's very good at fielding questions. He's such a geezer!
He ain't playing striker! He was very good all over the park except his finishing. But then at least he won (partly with Adel) 3 decent goal scoring chances, which was 3 more than anyone else managed today.
Always been a fan of SWP and glad he's finally getting some form and confidence. Would like to see him and Hoilett in the same starting XI.
you don't need to change formation to bring on a striker, Class or DJ on, taarabt to LM and SWP off, he had a decent first halt but was invisible in the second half apart from when he managed to trip over the ground. Fabio rolled a ball along the 6 yard box which was a tap in for a poacher, wed have won if harry made the change.
