Pearson realised that the likes of Nugent, whilst a good player at this level, would not on his own get Lesta where they want to be.

Height and power up front is what we also lack if were gonna compete for an automatic spot.

I'm sure SB knew this and certainly will after today.

Against a big physical unit marshalled well by Gardner we struggled to cause them problems in typical January conditions - the time of year when the weather is awful and lessser sides prevail.

Can never understand why we always seem to put in so many high crosses against big defenders with our midget attackers.

We never pressed their big defenders when they had the ball at their feet today- we made them look much better than they were.

There are clearly games when small players unhinge big defenders - Birmingham away for example but today was just the opposite - to their credit they denied our usually excellent midfield the ball and a big guy up front for plan B was sadly missing. Thought big Nick did well when he came on - just wish he was a shoe in at this time into the season.

Think that was Wensday's best performance/ result of the season by some distance.

It was just about our worst.

How much influence does our **** display have on their excellent display?

I'll take nine game unbeaten runs followed by one game of utter ****, all season long.

Nvertheless it riles that we have lost twice at home now to bottom three teams, and that the performances/failings have been so similar.

Ill go with that...time for action re both striker and keeper now though if we're to be serious contenders for an auto spot..

They did not deny our midfield, our midfield were very poor, giving away the ball on a regular basis. But the title of this thread is spot-on, we neeed a striker urgently because we showed no threat except for that one goal - as well delivered and taken as it was! Pearson realised what was needed, but so did Bruce who spent £2.6M (allegedly) for NickP!

The Wednesday players fought harder, were stronger and faster than our lot and deserved the win. We were abject in all areas, Nick would have scored the penalty not that it mattered. Simpson is complete and utter garbage! who bought that piece of crap?

We definately need a striker and keeper oh and we definately got a kick up the arse...I think all our lot were starting to believe they were promotion certs...clearly Cardiff players are, Leicester look like the real deal... We are play off hopefuls........still

Bit harsh on Simmo. He did win the penalty in the first place because of a clever run.

Still creating chances as usual, just not finishing them. A goal poacher would sort this out. A young Windass would have us top of the league at this point. Jakupovic could well bounce back but we may need another keeper in on a loan for Orient at the very least. For me a striker is the priority still.

Agreed. I don't see why every time we play **** it always has to be a tactical thing. We kept giving the ball away and that gave them the upper hand. There were plenty more individual errors but first and foremost we were **** on the ball.

    Agreed.
