Well we needed to win that game any way, but even more so given the other results. I think our opponents were the only side in the bottom nine to lose.

To be honest we weren't great today. But our defence put in a good shift and Jay Rod worked very hard. Lacked a bit in midfield but couldn't be happier with the win, despite the circumstances.

Lambert for me, dropped deeper than usual and pulled the strings from midfield absolutely wonderfully. His passing is so good. Honorable mention for De Ridder, thought he did well at the end, haha.

    **** YES!

I give no ****s about the dive. It benefits Saints, so there's nothing wrong with it.

Does that result feel to anyone else like an absolutely vital win for us? I reakon over the course of the season that may be seen come the end as one of our most vital wins. Well done boys. As much as we couldnt keep the ball at the end we well and truelly earnt that win

Been too nervous to follow. Great result, especially with Reading winning. About time we held onto a win and had a bit of luck. Glad to hear Boruc had a good game.

Saints were bloody terrible for the last 25 minutes. Yet again, our sub changes made things worse, not better. Can't believe Villa didn't take advantage, I think any other team would, but shows how **** they are.

We won't get that lucky again this season, so these three points I'm not getting over excited about. Welcome though they are.

Amazing result, but i really wish we would stop going so defensive so early, cost us a few times. But in the end this is like another leeds game and i would take another 20 of them! Well done Boruc

He'd be right up there for me but personally I'd give it to Rickie, thought he was absolutely sublime. Artur a close second and then Rodriguez just behind.

That's one of those scraped-together slightly lucky wins that we really needed, too many of those have been slipping through our grasp.

4/5 Points from our next five fixtures would set us up very nicely going into March.

Hooiveld and Yoshi were rocks at the back, Jay Rod chased everything, Lambert the architect of everything, thought Ramirez went missing towards the end, who cares about the penalty anymore, huge win! Only worry is about Shaw, hopefully nothing major.

All of Boruc's saves you'd expect any keeper to make. Got lucky with a couple of palm outs into the oncoming Villa players.

So like the rest of the team (apart from Luke Shaw's injury) we got lucky.
