And as I've been saying all along, why? I don't agree. What is the problem with only going to big games? They're still Saints supporters. They can still follow Saints outside of St Marys. "Supporting your club" and "Going to football matches" are two slightly different issues - you don't need to attend football matches to support your team. If we were a big top 4 team, then maybe I would agree with you a bit more. After all, are those "plastics" following because they actually support that big 4 team, or are they just trying to muscle in on all the success etc - ie, are glory-hunters, with no real affiliation to the club. If a Saints fan only ever wants to pay to see Manchester United play at St Marys, then I've got no problem with that at all. The fact is they are Saints fan, and that is all that matters in my eyes.
Am I missing something here? It was the last game of the season and the tickets were on sale since the new year, now taking into account there are some unfortunate people due to job commitments, travelling long distances or unemployment ect not allowing the finances to stretch to buying a ticket, why the hell didnââ¬â¢t a lot of these people buy earlier to avoid disappointment! After all the last game is always a great occasion and this year it must have been worth if possible buying months in advance As for waving season tickets in the air thatââ¬â¢s just pathetic but for the majority they had plenty of notice to make plans for that particular game
I’ve just had another thought what happened to all the supporters who pretty much filled Saint Marys every week when we were in the Premiership, Will they come back when were back in the prem? I bet they do yet ticket prices will probably be ã45 or more! If they go every week do they suddenly become good fans?
I have said similar if not the same on another thread. However Whether you consider them part time fans "plastics" or whatever, in the event we reach the premier can the club survive with out them. We would probably have to Average over 30000 each week just to break even. In those events whoever turns up to support Saints will be considered a fan at a guess........
I’m not knocking them but it’s strange how people can find the money for big games and if you’re in the prem there all big games and all of a sudden they go to every game, which I suppose is a good thing except that there will be fans who have been to games in the lower leagues who get bumped out due to costs or by not getting a ticket because they don’t go often enough
I fully expect to have no trouble getting tickets in the Championship. Even in the Premiership, I went to every match I wanted to after I had to give up my season ticket. It just takes forward planning. In the Premiership (where we'll be one day) Saints may have to reintroduce Membership.
P.s. It's not strange at all that people can find money for the big games. If you can afford one match and travel from say Cardiff or Kent, would you pick the Man U match or Carlisle?
Can't believe this has rumbled on.... Saints don't really have plastics. They were the people I went to school with that supported Liverpool and man u. If we suddenly started attracting fans from up north, I would be hugely proud and welcome then to any saints game, home or away! Lets also not forget, it's the local man u fans that buy those tickets to st marys to watch united etc and that will also inflate our crowds for the big games. I'm as much a saint than anyone, except I enjoy watching soccer Saturday with a beer. When we play the big games, I will fork out my spare dosh, travel to soton from Bristol and watch a game with all my other "plastic" saints fan mates who work in the police force on Saturday's or had to move to Milton Keynes due to lack of jobs in Southampton.
Huh? It wasnt about being touchy or mis reading anything. Its my opiniopn on this entire thread! I was simply saying all fans are equal. Look at my 1st post on this??? I didnt think it was right that season ticket holders get them coz they have nothing else to worry about coz that certainly aint the issue Personally i think Bettytare and Davetherug should get a room COYRs
Hey cool it why don't you.....you get out the wrong side of the bed or something!!? In the first place you directed your initial reply straight back at -Dan. Which indicated that you were angry or didn't like his response . Hence mine and others responses. I gave you the doubt about you misunderstanding his response which was purely tongue in cheek sarcasm as he actually agrees with you. As for a later post I made that was just a general comment on the most common things that cause disagreements. It is by people not understanding or mis reading other peoples comments. It was not about any particular person. To prove my point here you are being insulting for no reason as for what ever reason you assumed I was talking about you. Although as it turns out maybe I should have directed it at you. For goodness sake chill out man.......... we are not all out to get at you and this is what it is just a discussion board.
Ok Nashy I take back what I said.......have just reread my previous post as I was puzzled why you thought I had directed the comment at you. A simple spelling mistake changed the concept of my reply. I apologise for that....... I will go to the corner and put the dunces hat on. It was never intended to be directed at you just a general comment. I still think you misunderstood Dan's initial post though and by you posting a reply direct to Dan, for me, only confirms it. The strange thing is though we all are in agreement about the initial thread. If we were in a pub having a pie and a pint the misunderstanding on all sides would have been sorted and one of us would have had to get the next round in..........
It's easy to have these misunderstandings, you wouldn't have them face to face. Basically, we're all Saints fans and we should welcome even newbies because they are our future fans. No room for bullying. Now let's draw a blue line under it and get back on the bus with Premiership written on the destination board via the Championship.
