Sorry we couldn't take 3 points but if we did this last season we'd have come third...this point could be vital later on

Frustrating, can't really say we deserved the win either, we didn't create enough chances. Really disappointing but I think a lot of us expected it to be tough today.

This isn't a slight at Ade but I'm glad we're going to be forced to go with one striker again for awhile and thank **** Naughton can be dropped now too, offered zero going forward today again.

I hope Sandro isn't out for long, as good as Parker was we really need to avoid going into the second half of the season with injury problems like we had in the first half.

We did better against them than Chelsea. :)

Tbh though, had one of those first two attempts early doors gone in, their mindset changes and its a different game, they grew in confidence, because once again as good as people think JD and Ade are, clinical they are not, (Demps even less, and this is where I disagree massively with AVB saying we don't need another) when service is limited thats what you need.

Fair result really but it highlights the need for new strikers. We take 4 points off them so I'm not really complaining. The Arry factor had to be taken into consideration and a London derby also so all in all.........ok.

  5. As many have said, 1 point is better than last season, so not too disappointed by the result. QPR stifled the game and did really well in that regard. Dembele was totally ineffective as a result and neither Bale nor Lennon got anywhere near the dead ball line.
Downsides for me were the injury to Sandro, Walkers' lapses and Benny not getting any game time. Parker was excellent when he came on and Defoe worked hard, but both he and Ade were well marshalled by Nelson & co.
And that bloody pitch doesn't help.....

Yeah, the first goal(if at all) is crucial in that kind of a game, if we forced them to push out more we could have countered them at will but to do that we have to bloody take the lead. I was disappointed with the lack of urgency and chances created in the majority of the match but it's missing out on 2 points with United coming up which troubles me the most.

I wonder if Villas-Boas will stick with the same back four against Utd?
Lloris had virtually nothing to do, though he still managed to clear out a couple of their players (M'bia's still rolling...), so he'll probably leave it as it is.
    I wouldn't mind either full-back making way for Assou-Ekotto.

  8. I'm not! We were dreadful playing with one striker, under both AVB and Redknapp. Sure, we got the odd win, but we are far too inconsistent.

I don't think we have to panic after today's performance. It was always going to be tough, playing against a side coached by Redknapp - if he couldn't nullify us, few could. It's not as if QPR ever looked likely to turn us over, if there was going to be a winner, it was us. We just didn't have the person to pick the lock this match.

Also, if QPR are going to stay up, they are going to beat a lot of teams. Getting a draw against them may prove to be a decent result, at the end of the season.

Was an awful game on eye. Bar the first 15-20 minutes we never looked like scoring. Many poor performances out there, Ade yet again, Bale, Lennon and Dembele had dreadful games by their standards, Dawson must've misplaced about 15 passes and overall the team just wasn't gelling in that final third.

Another clean sheet is great but we really should've won the game today, not based on the performance but the players we have really should've tested and broken down QPR, I think AVB will be having a few strong words at the moment.

  10. Totally agree!
Naughton gives us nothing on the left IMO - he is steady enough there now, but he slows down our movement on that side. Walker had one of his earlier in the season games. SWP's not the worst in the world, but he tormented Walker and found him out on 3 occasions which could have been costly.

How boring. Adebayor was shocking, we were slow on the ball. When Sandro went off that was game over, he is a great defensive player but he can also get into dangerous positions, Parker doesnt.

Naughton did well defensively today but if we were going to start him in just one of the games, I'd have rathered it be United where his ****ness going forward isn't such an issue. Trouble is it's difficult for us to even bring Benny back now, 90 minutes against Coverntry isn't enough for him to prove his sharpness. Elsewhere in defence Dawson did really well today but I'm not sure I'd start him against United, they have a lot of pace in attack and if we're pushing forward, the balls getting sent in over the top will kill him. Was it me or was Dawson moving across to the left more to help Naughton out?

Dempsey offered as much in his 10 minutes as Ade did all match. I don't know where you get the idea that we're dreadful with one striker from but I feel so strongly the opposite that I think we're just going to have to save us 5 pages of arguing and just say that I disagree :D

I thought Parker carried the ball forward well on several occasions but like Sandro he just didn't quite know what to do with it in the end.

I thought he just slowed down the game, which is great when your 1-0 up, but we werent. I thought Sandro had more urgency which we needed.

A lot of players were guilty of showing a lack of urgency, I thought. I certainly wouldn't have had Parker down as one of the worst offenders.

This big standout for me was Dembele. Standout for being so static and losing possession, not like him at all.

You're right. I didn't think he was one of our worst players but by his standards he was pretty awful, although the QPR midfield did a good job on him.

Perhaps he was making sure he didn't miss the next game though injury. He'll be up for that.

You're right there, Im just saying Sandro was urgent haha. The worst were Ade and Naughts. Dembele was poor although he was marked out of the game imo.

I got the sense that Dembele was a bit rattled from the start, he was shackled by M'Bia all game and seemed a bit perturbed that he couldn't hold someone off for once! Barely seemed to take anyone one all day and only seemed to want to pass backwards. All our key players had off days. Ade had a shocker. We were rarely threatened though and Dawson and Vert's defensive performances were as strong as ever.
