I think that most would acknowledge that fans from the north east qualify as just about as passionate as they come. Also, that that recognition would mainly be in respect of ourselves, and NUFC. However, I was at Charlton on Saturday, when they played Hartlepool. I have to say that the Monkey Hangers have got to be one of the best away support I have ever seen. There were 50 or so Oompah Loompahs, and maybe a dozen Santas. In all, I would estimate that there were about 500 of them. They never stopped singing and dancing from beginning til end and all for a "dead rubber" end of season goalless bore draw. And Christ, was it a bore! I can only imagine what they'd be like if they were in any way "successful". Big up to them, and if you know any, please pass it on.
Remember when we had them in the cup at the SOL the other year? They were magnificent, about 8,000 of them came up. Good lads, it's a very well run club actually.
