For the 8th time, Massa will host his karting race and for the first time Alonso will compete, a sign that their friendship is actually genuine unlike the former best buddies at McLaren. Anyway, there are 26 drivers in total completing this year, two current F1 drivers, two rumoured F1 drivers, ten ex-F1 drivers and the rest from other forms of motorsport. Karting races are always exciting so please watch both races.

Last year Bianchi won both races, but was disqualified from the second race because his kart was 600g underweight, and so Alguersuari won the event. It would be hilarious if this year Bianchi beat the two current Ferrari drivers.

    Drivers taking part this year:
    Schedule (GMT):
Unfortunately the event won't be on TV but I'll post a link to a live stream tomorrow when I find one. For now the live timing will have to do:

Is it just my imagination or is the line-up worse this year?

That said Kobayashi in a go-kart will be hilarious to watch <laugh>

Bit surprised to see Piquet on the list. I thought Massa blamed him for 2008?

Forza, is the Alonso pick taken from the competition this weekend? It's just I was under the assumption drivers have to always race in their team overalls? They do for Top Gear, ROC, etc.

It was taken yesterday. Alonso has his Ferrari helmet, but nothing else: http://www.desafiodasestrelas.com.br/fotos/779.jpg

It makes you wonder whats going on, especially when you look back at Massa in 2011 (and behind him you can see Alguersuari in STR overalls), or at Bianchi this year.

There might be a specific clause in Alonso's contract that lets him do this or maybe Alonso just doesn't realise.

Alonso not realising would be pretty odd. He's pretty good at the media/PR game, and if Massa knows about it, chances are Alonso would. I think the only logical deduction is that Alonso has been sacked by Ferrari, and simply didn't have time to get another helmet sorted.

Maybe Alonso wants to keep a low profile in Brazil?

Or maybe it helps separating drivers for the public so not to confuse everybody?

Since its Massa's event he gets to wear the Ferrari gear etc...
