Aren't we missing the point? Whatever his situation, it's not exactly an overnight revelation, is it? To the press, maybe, but not to his agent, his father, San Lorenzo, or surely the management of NUFC. Yet somehow we seem woefully unprepared for this eventuality....again. The club's management have consistently demonstrated a lack of understanding of what is happening with the playing staff.

Yet again my opinion of Pardew takes another hit. I liked him, I did. I was pleased about a long contract; he did very well last year. But it's almost every day that something else makes him look like a tool.

This story looks a more like a fairy story written for dimwits than a professional piece of journalism that has any credible substance.

The "facts" seem to be that there aren't any.

The club has made NO statement about this.

Fabricio Coloccini also has said nothing to any form of the media.

The player has submitted No transfer request - and if there is a genuine truthful piece of fact involving family breakdown etc, then an employee with backbone would take action to save his marriage at the first opportunity.

The only actual piece of information with validity is a statement from the player's father (the manager of a poor Argentine football club, who wants his son to play for the team) and who states they can't can't afford any money at all to buy our £10m player ....

    Guys - this story stinks.

If a player on a huge wage and a long contract wants to leave, then to make it happen:

    1) A club must have a bid accepted to buy him

    2) The player must agree terms with the said club.

In Newcastle's hour of need, where they need to preserve a place at the table where all the Premiership clubs get £90m a season for starters, then they would be barking mad to thank a player for his services, but wish him and his family well - oh and risk going down the pan in doing it.

And does anyone believe Mike Ashley is that kind hearted?

Yep good points. The BBC article has absolutely no factual basis for it's claims whatsoever, which is quite pathetic. You can't very well write an article on such a website as if it's fact, yet not corroborate the story in some way. Sky Sports, I believe, still has it up on there website that Colo has not asked to leave as of yet.

Personally I think the quality of the BBC's general presentation and written pieces have taken a noticeable downturn in the past year. That is sub-standard Daily Mail cack at best, but at least they have the temerity to claim knowledge from a "club insider" (/"source close to the club") when they run stories.

However, you'd think if the stories weren't true, Colo and Newcastle would have moved to dispel them as quickly as possible. No good trying to bring players in with this over your heads!

The writing is on the wall and anyone that thinks he wont go your wasting your time trying to get the message across to them!! These fans are made of wood and have no normal functioning as human beings. If they had an ounce of loaf they would understand how **** our club is right now and always will be as we cant offer the money required to keep players good enough in the first place and also cant continue to pretend we want to win things and con them out of their career.

I'm kind of glad he's going. He's awesome on the ball, but always seems to get caught out by long balls over him.

this is a ****ing disaster. only striker scoring goals gone and only defender worth keeping on the way out. inches away from the relegation zone. ashley has got to spend big time.

    George Caulkin (the times)

@CaulkinTheTimes: Colocconi will play for & captain #NUFC at Norwich. Tough situation for all parties. His side: wife been unwell & told club he wants out. Their side: he's an asset, under contract for 3 yrs. Meeting next week between him & hierarchy; ideally, he would stay for rest of season & reevaluate. hardly likely to cancel contract. Relationship with Pardew strong but need a solution or could get messy.

Santon linked with a return to Italy, Ba leaves for Chelsea and now Colo wants out as well? <doh>

It's looking real healthy right now.

    Let's look for some positives:
Debuchy signs, which is probably going to keep Cabaye at the club.
Cisse looks back to his last season type of player.
Marveaux is starting to look like the player we thought he had the potential to be.
Bigiramana is looking like a prospect that will flourish over the next season or two.
Our injuries are starting to ease the burden on the fit players.
Even Ranger appears to be realising that he's a footballer not a gangster - after he looked our brightest player against Brighton.

Ok, Ba leaving was hurtful, but Colo and Santon have been 2 of our worst players for the last month.

Just a bit of perspective on the last few days.

Sounds the most believable of the leaving stories so far. Only problem is these stories about San Lorenzo circulating for a while now.

Looking at it logically, it would seem all the media crap about Pardew losing the dressing room etc is just the usual circus you get from them when a side is struggling. I can't pretend I'll not be not be disappointed if pizzagate has no factual basis.

Hopefully we'll knuckle down, get something tomorrow and resolve any other issues next week.

I think a good thing if there is any substance in this wanting to leave story would be for Colo just to be open with the fans about the scenario. At the moment though I'm just treating all this as a load of ****e until we get something of actual substance. So far we have our medias take on it, and frankly, they talk ****e regularly whether they are broadsheets or tabloids. His performances of course raise doubts but its all getting a bit silly speculation wise.
