George Best never went to prison in 1974. He was jailed in 1984 but, like Mickey Thomas, that was looooong after he left United. But how can we be surprised that Liverpool would happily support a player who was in prison whilst he was on their books? They actually bought Jermaine Pennant a year after he went to jail for drink driving. Not to mention Mandy Carroll who was convicted of asasault just a few months before becoming Liverpool's record signing. Tho' I guess signing convicted criminals must make it easier for them to integrate themselves into Liverpool, and of course makes it easier for them to look up to Stevie G as a captain.
