beefy, i agree on the positivity aspect to the tweaking, but that could just be an injection of pace through the middle. for me, that's all we need - a bit more pace, preferably up front but also out wide - maybe someone to challenge pilks. thomas ince would have been my perfect signing but it looks as though he's heading back to liverpool...

and going back to dhcanary's post, i agree we also need a standout centre midfielder who can do what tettey and johnson do, but on his own. again that would give us more flexibility. but that can wait till the summer if need be. its not urgent. neither are the forwards really but that would be my preference at this stage.

I agree we shouldn't change the system immediately, like tomorrow, that'd be foolhardy. Points are whats important at the end of the day.

It's probably very good we have players that can play so many roles and we have such a varied team.

Remember the good old league one days, every week we played the same team, same system, same personnel. No headaches at all.

the problem is Tettson, as I've affectionally called him, is a £20m footballer. Theres no denying that. So most teams in our position need to play 2 players in that role.

I am with you with pace. I think Benett and Jackson should be involved tomorrow from the start and I think the pace they bring could frighten newcastle. Holt can come on and effect a game and he'll be desperate to get back in.

Yeah, the thought had crossed my mind. What was the touted figure? £8m? It's not that out of reach....

It may even be an even better player than that in my mind.

It's probably one of the most prized assets in world football.

I sincerely hope that the commitment to paying off all external debt by the end of this year hasn't prejudiced any plans Hughton has had for this current window?

If the assumption is to pay off the debt, somehow survive this season and then strengthen in the summer I'll start to get very anxious indeed!

A certain amount of cash has been automatically put aside to pay the debt off. It had to be paid as part of the restructuring we did a while back, but theres certainly enough cash. Probably more than last season.
