Not sure what the f uck to have for dinner tonight.. All largely depends if I go for a pint after work.. I quite fancy bangers mash and onion gravy. Though may save that for tomoro night as am determined not to leave my house all weekend.
I never buy lamb. Used to love lamb chops when I was young.. Just seems massively expensive for what meat you get..
I'm not a big fan of lamb anymore. Used to be. I do the cooking in the evening so my wife tells me what she wants and I make it for her (never anything fancy, she's half Scottish). I then look in the fridge, see what is about to expire and try and concoct an edible dish. Last night there were some lamb steaks left over from the kids' tea and, for some reason, a shed load of green beans.
I don't really ever plan what I eat.. It's more a case of what do I fancy eating then hoping I have the stuff to make it. I also have the urge for some dauphinoise potatoes.. Though they're not the ideal food stuff for not putting on weight..
I bought a couple of poussin last night, they were on offer. They look lovely, a perfect little portion each. Not allowed to cook em till February though as she's dieting so they went in the freezer. Any tips for them? Love McDonalds breakfast, major weakness of mine. I let myself have one a week!
spatchcock them and drop the level down on your grill and and stick those babies under. keep turning whilst it browns but not burns - cooking times vary depending on your kitchen and bird size - should take roughly 25-30 mins simple marinade - chopped rosemary thyme bay leaves bit of parsley(not essential) garlic chilli(fresh or flakes) sea salt cracked black pepper grated rind of one lemon olive oil and juice of said lemon .... let the spatchcocked bird lay flat in this for at least 90 mins. this can be done on a barbecue too, and the marinade is also ace with a butterflied lamb leg and cooked exactly the same way
Hmmn, I could have bought them ready spatchcocked too. Bugger. Will roast whole and sort out some accompaniment, not rocket science after all. NOF, they were fresh, now they're frozen. Will defrost before eating though.
I've got a meaty lollipop, it's............................................ well the rest is fairly obvious now aint it?
... i did set up just right didn't I? surprised our sweats didn't get in there first! talking of which where is the lil' tinker?
The Unit's out on the piss down the posh end tonight, so for the first time in yonks, it's going to be fish, chips and curry sauce for me, plus three rounds of bread and lurpak - healthy not
