Is it similar to a UK test?

Oi! Are you besmirching the good name of us foreign-taught drivers?

Or is it just the Aussies who are such good drivers that we don't have to sit a UK test? ;)

Pretty much I think H. There was no written test when I took the UK test though. But I would assume they are much the same. The good thing is I can just turn up at the local office and take the test there and then. If I pass the written exam a state trooper take you out for the driven bit.

Oh it's quite roadworthy and I replaced the drums and disc pads last year. But's it's 1980's technology with no ABS. So it just doesn't have the stopping OOOMMPHH of a modern car.

Blimey - beats my experience. All I really had to do was drive 200 yards from the police station, reverse park outside a small country pub and buy the copper who was conducting the test a beer.

Yep, that's what i hear happens in lots of countries..incredible eh?

The 'written' test is actually multiple choice here..and fairly straight forward. If the revision work has been put in, it's pretty difficult to fail it...lots of people assume though, that it's going to be a walkover, and then fail it time and time again coz they don't actually do any work for it. <doh>

<laugh> i wish i could be an examiner there!
