Thing is now, he has 4 years left in his contract. If he want to join this Argi club then they have to come up with the money and even for a 30year old he won't be cheap. Do we let him go on loan to them or keep an unhappy player. For me we aren't in a position to let him go but I can't see a way out of this where both parties get something out of it as we WILL NOT bring in two centre halfs. We will be lucky to get one.

Even an out of sorts Colo is better than no Colo.
We need him in the side to play at Norwich tomorrow.
Even if he does want to leave, or if he has personal problems, they need to be put to one side for 90 minutes.
He is our club Captain and a highly paid professional football player, he ought to be able to show that professionalism and put in a shift for the club he plays for, until such time as he is transferred elsewhere.
I know people may say, but if his hearts not in it etc, but it's not like we are falling over ourselves with quality purple players to field, is it.
If l was Pardew, Colo would be on the bus and on the pitch...rant over

He's definitely leaving. Confirmed by a member of NUFC staff. His replacement is lined up apparently, and is 'very good'

If this is true Clarence, then l am both delighted and dejected at the same time. Why could it not be the case that we keep Colo and add a "very good" CB.
Still won't believe he is going until he has gone though.

I agree, he should be in the team, on the pitch and acting as the club captain. I've always expected my staff, some of which are minimum wage earners to give their all until the end of their last shift, so i'm bloody sure a footballer earning silly money can put a decent shift in for 90mins.

All speculation and stories aside, it speaks volumes how well thought of Colo is, looking at the amount of views, and posts this thread has received in such a short space of time! <ok>

Big assumption that he's not a Premier league player!

    Lescott? Tomkins?

What a contrast to last season, even is this isnt true...seems like the rule now is everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Im a glass half full kind of guy and this is getting so beyond a joke you have to laugh, but onwards and upwards eh (cant go much futher down, truth be told.)

Wait, as much as I'd like to believe you there are some points here worth debating.

San Lorenzo isn't backed by any sugar daddy, neither do they receive the kind of TV money European clubs have, nor the prize money. If Colo is leaving, would they be able to pay 1)his transfer fee 2)his wages
Let's assume Newcastle are letting him go for a low undisclosed fee.
Colo leaving means Willo and Saylor are our only 2 CBs left, and we'll have to replace him. 'very good'? 'very good' established players don't grow on trees and won't be available for bargain fees I think. What makes us believe that we'll get a)A very good CB for about 10M, and then b)a Remy-like striker in this transfer window?

And that is not including Bong(LB?), and our long-term need for another CB and another striker.

As I said, I would like to convince myself to believe you, but there are too many points to think about now. Of course I still hoep you are right about this

    Still don't beleive it.

List all of the factors militating in favour of the club letting him go.

Even if he wants to take a 90% pay cut, what's in it for the club ?

Now this story is big news all over the media, if Colo doesn't come out with a statement about it being bullshit and he's happy at the club, in the next 24hrs. Then you will know there's a problem for sure.
