Using the Mail as a source, think I'd believe AVB over them... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ro-Negredo-signs-Tottenham.html#ixzz2Hb0OTUQi
I agree with Tots mate, we don't have a consistent 20 goal a season PL striker/s. perhaps Defoe might do that this season, as he's already on 10. but it's the consistency and being able to rely on someone for that every season, which we've missed for a long time now. not only do we need that 20 goal man, but we also need the midfielders mucking in with a fair few too. so far this season: Defoe 10 Bale 9 Dempsey 4 Lennon 3 then the likes of Ade, Caulker, Verts on 2 or so. bearing in mind that we had 5 in midfield at 1 point, there should have been more goals from that area. We've also switched up and been playing 442 with an extra striker, but still, the stats show that it's been the Bale and Defoe show with 1/2 of our prem league goals between them. I know no more than you mate, I'm just passing on what I'm reading. who knows whether it's true or not? but we're looking to cement a place in the top 4 continuously now, if not push even higher. - to do that, we need what every one around us has got. and we currently don't. I would agree with your last sentence if a 5-7th place finish was our aim, but with others likely to strengthen around us, we need more than that to push on and become a consistent top 4 club, IMO.
I'm gonna put my gambling hat on and say Spurs won't sign anyone else now for this window. I did this last time and we got Dembele and Dempsey. Here's hoping this time we get Moutinho and NEW STRIKER (I no longer believe we'll get Damiao although Negredo is possible)
Not that weird, Madrid already had Higuain and Raul selling Huntelaar and RVN, then bought Benzema and some bloke called Ronaldo the same window. They exercised a buy back clause on Negredo for 5m and then sold him to Sevilla for 15m, so there's 10 million reasons why they did that, don't think they had any intention of playing him.
Guillem Ballbag has said that despite Negredo being over in London with other Sevilla reps, he's not talking to us. Chelsea have just signed Ba... so i guess that leaves Arsenal.
I don't think thats been the brightest move myself, it doesn't quite get the best from both strikers we have, not for Ade anyway, if I was a striker in a 442, I couldn't think of a worse partner than JD. In a way I understand Ade's frustration, hero to zero in a year, he was the main man, now he's not 1st choice in the lone role, and only gets a game with someone who rarely passes to you. With that though, you'd like to think a striker would just get his head down and fight for the place, doesn't look like it, so that is disappointing. We've mainly got our results using it with the prolific form of two, with the chances we create I think a clinical finisher would have a field day. Also I'm not sure we've played anyone decent with it so its success could be slightly misleading. You could also say AVB can only work with what he's got. The decisons in the next two weeks will go a long way to where we finish.
Bild, who seem to have developed a bit of a thing for us recently, have linked us with Heung-Min Son today. He's a 20-year-old South Korean forward who's currently with Hamburg. His contract's up in 18 months and the bid's supposedly around the €10m mark. No idea if he's any good, but it sounds like a fairly sensible deal, with one eye on 'promoting the brand' and all that bollocks.
according to the Fail, the sevilla president has flown into London to ties up the sale of Negredo to us,mean while we are still talking to leandro's people about him signing for us,they are reporting
very good points Notso, Ade and AVB. Although I do think that attitude has got something to do with it as he's not the main man. it's not solely down to Defoe's greed, IMO. Lennon and Bale have been zipping balls into our strikers, so it could be argued that Ade has had just as much of a chance of scoring. he also has no assists either, so it's not like last season where he didn't score that many, but helped others to score. We all know what Adebayor is like, and while it might not be glaringly obvious, he's not got the same attitude he had last season I don't think... #1027
Mornin Roo, I've edited my post while you wrote yours, and it pretty much concurs with what you've said.
Roo - he scored 17 times and had 3 perfectly good goals chalked off by bad decisions. That would have made him the mythical 20 a year striker we are seeking. Not defending him 100% but also have to take into account his disjointed season so far appearance-wise. Some but not all of that is down to him.
Anyone noticing a little pattern? The moment AVB says nothing will happen... Something happens! AVB pre-Jan window: Nothing will be done in January, we won't be signing anyone. 3rd January: We are delighted to announce the signing of Zeki Fryers from Standard Liege... 4th January: We are delighted to announce we have reached agreement with Germany U-21 captain Lewis Holtby... AVB 10th Jan: It is extremely unlikely we'll sign Leandro Damiao or another striker. 11th January: Sevilla president Jose Del Nido is reportedly in London to finalise a deal between Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla for the transfer of Alvaro Negredo.
Lol tots, i wasn't having a go! it was to get your thoughts on the fact that Guillem Ballbag is saying that we're not in talks, yet others say we are!! what the hell is going on?! So many different reports on this. The ITK's are saying we were interested in the summer, but not any more. and this morning they are saying it's "a big few days, LD"....
I think that's just pretty much proof that 99% of ITK's are bullshitters mate, they blow hot and cold as soon as they get a sniff the media are about to report something. Over the past 24 hours, I've now come to the conclusion that the only one I really do trust (or at least believe more often than not) is Gards (which was pretty much the case anyway). I've noticed that Akqa is getting a massive amount of abuse both from Twits and over on SC apparantly, serves him right for being so over dramatic and trying to take all the credit for stuff. Suter made his profile private and seeing as I don't follow him I'm unsure as to what he tweets now. At least with Gards is 99% of the stuff he gets he just DM's to people now and when he does publicly share, he'll mention it once and that'll be it and just answer questions from others. The likes of Akqa and others feel the need to post their "info" a dozen times and then make ridiculous comments to @SpursOfficial or @UnderArmour saying **** along the lines of like "Is my Moutinho shirt availabe now?".
