Boruc to be in goal again, which I think is the right decision. Interestingly, Nigel said that if a GK makes a bad mistake, he tries to play him in the next game because he knows what it's like. I think he doesn't want to destroy someone's confidence. Did he play Bart again after his howler...can't remember as I'm trying to erase it from my memory
I don't think he did. But as you say, still trying to blank it out. 'The keeper who couldn't use his hands.' d'oh
Nigel also said that when Fonte is fit he will have to try and get back in the team. Good saying that because it tells the team that one player is not essential to success and tells Jos or whoever that he believes they will do well. Most positive man in football as he was called on Sky.
I'm desperate to play Lambert and Jay up front together for this one, and really go at the Villa CBs. But I also don't want Ramirez playing out wide. One possible solution could be to play a fairly narrow 4-3-3, with Puncheon and Jay just either side of Lambert and Ramirez in the middle as one of three CMs. But I also think that Villa's FBs look vunreable, whilst balls into the box look to be a real threat to the Villa defence, and so playing a narrow side wont fully exploit this. And then on top of this, I've been impressed with Davis recently, so how do I get him into my desired XI if Cork is to return to the middle of the park? Tough decisions for Adkins. Unfortunately, I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win. I think we'll be the better team, and create more chances, but I've just got a horrible fear that we're going to lose this. Not a single part of me is confident of winning this.
Could try a West Ham style 433 with Lambert as a target man and two quick forwards either side going early and Latching on the things. Shaw and Clyne are solid and I think they could deal with less protection, so long as we see a reasonable amount of posession. -------------------Boruc Clyne-----Yoshida-----Hooiveld-----Shaw ---------------Cork-----Morgan ------------------Ramirez --------Lee-----Lambert-----Rodriguez Choices, choices...
Anything less than a win would be an awful result im afriad. I expect a win and also believe we will get it
If we win I fear for Lambert, got a feeling its either get a result or you're out for him, but that can only ease our relegation worries slightly... 2-1 Saints
Ok there seems to be a consensus forming that Ramirez should not be played wide. I agree that he is more effective in the middle but to suggest he should not be out there seems strange. Does he not play out wide for Uruguay?
Would pick the same but with Puncheon on the right, think he can make a huge difference and I don't know if Lee could cut it on the right wing. Hopefully we win as I have put £10 on us in a moment of drunken confidence!
First choice is central, however I'm happy with him wide as he drifts in anyway. Just giv him a shirt and say "off you go son, enjoy yourself".
Lol, does he ever predict anything where one team scores more than 2? In the cup he didn't predict a single team to score more than 2 goals.
He also believes that away draws at Stoke and Fulham, and a 1-1 result against Arsenal at home constitutes 'stuttering'.
Don't see whats wrong with that. Two teams separated by 1 point in the league and Villa at home giving them a narrow win as the home team.
Who will be on the bench as cover for CB? Maybe Stevens or Turnbull or would he swap Cork and replace him with Davis?
