So Di Canio is actually a proper racist. fascist salutes and singling out players by skin colour. It wasnt a row even ffs I'd rather not know what his private thoughts are tbh..

Nice guy. Good to see real racism is dealt with in such a proper manner by the FA.

oh wait, he caught the ball instead of scoring when the keeper was on the turf, he must be a saint <doh>

Wow, -a lecture on morality by Paulo Di Canio.

I do like a good laugh on a gloomy Thursday evening.

What's up next? "Sobriety" by Fergie?

Its hardly out of the ordinary, players put the ball out of play all the time when an opponent is injured when they clearly have the chance to take advantage of having an extra man. The only reason this was such a moment because everyone was surprised that di canio did it after he had been made out as the pantomime PL villain.

Whats really funny is that a player saved an opponents life in the same year by giving him CPR on the pitch, yet the award was still given to Di Canio! good to see FIFA had its priorities right even back then.

  5. Di Canio did it BECAUSE he was the pantomime villain! It made the media stand back and re-assess their opinions, how can you criticise someone that shown such a good will act? Bit like with Fowler, he got a lot of stick from some quarters, especially after the derby when he sniffed the line. However, there was THAT penalty where he tried to prevent Seaman getting sent off but it was portrayed as him saying it shouldn't be a penalty, he still got stick but it calmed down a bit. He never got a high level amount of stick though because he was also English!

IMO, Suarez needs to do something similar to get them off his back but I'm not sure anything would achieve it. If he had stopped against Stags and not put the ball in the net (therefore taking the referees decision out of the equation) would he have turned the medias perception? Would opposition fans think differently of him? I doubt it.

Isn't that the point though, the media will always need a pantomime villain to deflect attention from any serious issues in the game. Before Suarez it was Barton and before him bellamy, savage, bowyer, ronaldo etc etc, eventually they will get bored and find someone else to blame the ill's of the earth on.
If anything its probably a good thing for us that Suarez has this image at the moment as it might scare a few clubs off him, we need to keep him for a few seasons at least.

Can't help thinking about the BBC bloggers, sorry journo's, in the office at Salford having a brew in the canteen and chatting away.

How we going to get another angle on that fella Suarez?
hhmm not sure, our constant bashing seems to be getting him public support...
Yes we have been a bit full on, still that's no reason to give up come on brainstorm time,
    I've got it ....
Yes come on lad what is it,
Well ...... all we need to do is find a saint like figure
    Yes Yes and
Well then we get them to include Suarez in a piece about fairness and Suarez looks like a wa**er again

    BRILLIANT BRILLIANT
    Who you thinking....
Not sure, no one comes to mind,
Hey can I suggest an idea,
Thought you were getting the doughnuts,
    None left...
Has Samuals been in for a chat,
Yes he had ten minutes with the "Bash Suarez" organising committee, catering have ordered a few more boxes, Jam and custard ones,
    OK, OK, what's your idea....
Well if we can't find a saint like person, what about someone who has done something exceptional in true spirit of humanity
I like it, what you thinking, who do we have this season, will hit home if we can draw peoples comparisons this season

    eerrmmm ...........................
    OK last year,
    ...................
Wait, got it, that player who nearly died at Tottenham, and all the players saved him, that will do
Pr**k those were doctors and paramedics, didn't you see the florescent jackets
Oh thought that was Swansea's away kit
Never mind, season before what we got
    .........
    ok season before that
    .........
    *uckin hell
    .........
Got it, 2001, last time a player did anything remotely decent, de Canio, Caught the ball and everyone said he was great,
OH yes fantastic, bring it on, lets get this written up, that will show the public what a reprobate that Suarez is
    Brilliant, another doughnut anyone,
    There's none left
    Oh yeah, I forgot..........

  9. Not even sure it's that deep. I think it could be as simple as there being a lot more fans of other teams than there are of your own. No matter what team you are talking about (within reason), there are always more opposition fans. this can only be the same within the media too, surely?

Then you have to think about them wanting to protect their reputation. Us LFC fans have stood up for Suarez including trying to pass off the non-handshake as Evra's fault. Do you really think a journalist or pundit is going to try and spin that one knowing the backlash they would get?

Yes, this country loves a pantomime villain but I put down to lazy journalism and lazy journalism alone <ok>

What would you reckon the odds of all italian teams getting a ban from europe no matter what happens.
Even with match fixing, something they've been doing since the game started up ffs, didn't keep AC out of the CL ala Berlusconi throwing his weight about.

They have the worst fan trouble out of all the major nations and have had for 20 years since the decline of most of it in Holland and Germany.

English hooligans were 4th in the scum league back then not 1st.

Quite a few italians have died via football violence these past 20 years. It's a fkucing shame is what it is. Mindless fkn ******s

They've been stabbing and cheating since the 60's and getting away with it, Uefa don't punish them nearly enough, so nothing's gonna change anytime soon BBf.
