Part of it is that he wants to play down south. I hear QPR are interested but he was Ipswich player of the season. He has settled in, is playing well, gets on with the manager and the fans like him, so why on Earth wouldn't he want to stay at Ipswich? His comments have always been respectful about being contracted to Hull and it's not his fault he's on that contract. I think if it came down to it he would take a wage cut, but Ipswich would be breaking their wage structure even to pay him ã20k, so something somewhere's got to give. We just need to wait and see what the clubs and any other clubs that come in for him can come up with.
If that was the case why did he waste City's, Celtic's, and his time negotiating, and, instead train and try to get games with his employer??? Instead of having a few more days holiday when the rest of the squad had returned for pre-season!!!
Yes like i am on considerably less than Jimmy, That's Not The Point. But what i earn, i earn through hard graft, unlike jimmy's Performances for Hull City Afc this season and if i went round shouting i want to work somewhere else but want my present employers to subsidize my wages I'd be out the door on the dole. i know this does not apply to most footballers, but he is showing complete and utter contempt and disrespect to My Football Club and like lambrettaman think he's a tw@t.
So are you saying that Celtic is not as good as Ipswich??? I think you would find many fans of teams this side of Hadrian's Wall would say that both Celtic, and Rangers, would be good enough to compete in the NPL.
They're not though, are they? Middlesbrough are a prime example of how an SPL team would fare in England. Besides, even if they were any good, how many competitive matches do they have a season? Like four or something.
Celtic and Rangers would probably compete for the play-offs in the Championship, if that. Like TWF said, look at Boro (I think with Mowbray in charge they'll be top half next season at least) Look at Boyd, Hooper, McDonald. They are all perfect examples of how the SPL differs to football in England.
I still think Celtic and Rangers would do ok in England, Middlesbrough was a mix and match of former SPL players, if Rangers and Celtic played in England with the teams they have now i could see them been on par with Everton, Newcastle and other mid table, lower PL teams. There's no denying however that it is a poor league aside from the Old Firm, but like Sagagee says, why waste time negotiating a deal if you don't want to go there? Bullards been in English football for 10 years so would know what standard to expect in Scotland. Maybe the situation wasn't handled brilliantly last summer and is maybe hindering the chance of a departure by mutual agreement, but if you're gonna act like a spoilt kid then you can fully expect to be treat like one. Training with the reserves and youth team is nothing new in football, usually used to show that no one player is bigger than the club and hopefully to give the player concerned a kick up the Jackson.
I am with TWF on this one. No it’s not a measure of twatdom but calling someone a twat cos they wont take a pay cut is. He was offered a contract anyone would have jumped at and just cos he doesn’t perform well or is injured doesn’t mean he should take a pay cut. Just cos we want him out doesn’t mean he has to sign a contract else where, we were the ones that offered him it. In the normal work place you can’t force someone to take a paycut and move jobs if you don’t like them, eventually if you treat them like **** yes they will want to move on like Jimmy but if the money isn’t right for him then he will stay getting farmed out to other clubs on the same salary and if they club is pissing you off then even more reason you would piss them off and not sign for anyone else. The fans need to think about it if you were in his shoes
Bullard's situation is more to do with his affect on other players. If your top earner is happy to arse about all the time and leads others astray then of course you have to get rid. He's a bad example to the younger players, that's why he has to go. If Bullard had the same mentality as Barmby then there would be no problem. He doesn't fit with NP's plans so it's best for everyone for him to go. It's not Bullard's fault he got a stupid contract from Duffen & Brownie. It's not AP or NP's fault that he is not the type of "professional" they want at the club. What the manager wants is what the manager should get.
Jimmy Bullard only wants things his way. Fine if he wants to play for Ipswich - if he loves them more then us, thats fine by me. But if he wants to say how fantastic it is there and how much he is enjoying his football then he should be prepared to enjoy what wages Ipswich are prepared to pay.
He wont need to take a cut thats why i am so sure he will be owned by City next year, the allams will want him off the wage bill he will turn down any perm contracts of less and just get loaned out still on 45k as the allams will think paying 20k to play for another club is better than 45k playing for the reserves. Irrespective of what they have said in the past about not doing this, they are businessmen.
TWF - I think if anyone was treat by their employer the way JB has been by Hull City they'd want out Thats a fair point, if he wants to find a new employer which he does in Ipswich, that's fine, but you can't expect your previous employer to pay half of your wages. He either needs to fully leave the club and play football on whatever wages a team is prepared to pay him, or play for the club that is paying him (if he doesn't want to play for us, which he is indicating he doesn't, then the Allams should take the hit and either pay him off or let him rot in the reserves)
Bullard passed up European football at Celtic and spent his time up there 'negotiating' playing golf, all the time he was picking up his 45grand a week, the guy is a complete and utter bellend. Those pictures of him and Ash in Vegas, well I hope Ash remembers his time at City as his best days not hanging out with Bullard, he'll regret this soon if not already.
Here is an analegy for you: You are on an excellent wage in the UK but dont really like your employer and are not overly happy. Someone offers you the job of your dreams, sun tan applicator to stunning women on Bondi beach in Oz, you will only earn two thirds of what you do in the UK, but will be still able to live very comfortably. Only a twat would not take the pay cut! Jimmy, you want to apply suncream in Oz (or kick a ball in Ipswich), take the pay cut,

Excellent analegy. The difference between Bullard and the average Joe taking a pay cut is that if he did he'd still earn more than the average Joe in a year. He's not exactly in a position were taking a pay cut would leave him penniless, and if he truly loves the game he'll get the best of both worlds by earning a wage and doing the sport he loves.
