Brazilian forward Neymar says that "it is not yet the time" to leave Santos to play in Europe.

The 20-year-old, who was crowned South American player of the year for the second successive season on Wednesday, has been subject to offers from Barcelona and Chelsea according to Santos president Paulo Schiff.

"Everyone asks me the same question but I have a contract with Santos until 2014 and I am happy here with my family and my friends," said Neymar, 20.

Its obvious he is running down his contract so he can join us next year <laugh>

    TRANSFER LATEST
Times journalist Gary Jacob on Twitter: "Thfc AVB on Damiao "extremely likely that we going to sign him"".

Tottenham have been linked with Internacional striker Leandro Damiao, although the 23-year-old Brazil international has denied that talks have begun

Spurs have some ambition in the transfer market, fair play to them.

While one of our direct rivals for the top 4 seems to be ver active in the transferwindow, we are more concerned about trimming the wage bill. Thanks in part to Kenny,
The owners are getting frustratingly shrewd. Totally understandble for getting rid of Cole, But i don't see why Sahin is supposedly up next. He has not really settled well, but that's because he was not given a proper run of games, but even if he was played, BR puts him in a totally uncomfortable role.

We are quite thin on midfield. Second half of the season could get very hectic if we are to challenge in all the competitions that we are in. Sahin could be useful in Euro league and cup games. And you can never be sure of Gerrard's injury, He was having a terrible time last year so if he does get sidelined, there is only shelvey to fill in and honestly he's be quite shabby.

We need to keep Sahin atleast till summer, i don't get the obsession in regards to trimming the wage bill. We need some depth, Spurs have more midfielder than us. We are generating much more revenue than them, but still our priority seems to be with wage bill. BR was moaning about sqaud depth in a recent interview, i wonder why the hell he's trying to get rid of Sahin then.

  9. But isn't that down to the manager's judgement? Ultimate, it is up to that manager as to whether Sahin plays or not too so if Rodgers doesn't rate him, what is the point in keeping him to sit on the bench? Unfortunately, this is the one player in our squad we can't say needs time because he's only here on a season loan!

Could I get a list of all these players Tottenham have signed in the january window so far? I expect the list to be massive as they have been "very active in the transfer window". Your words not mine.

Are you Sahins agent (or mum?) You seem to have an obsession with the lad and frankly he hasn't done anything in a Red shirt to justify it. I agree about the trimming of the wage bill especially after Coles exit but why continue to pay a lad who's not even making the bench half the time? If he's made it clear he doesn't want to be here or that he wouldn't sign after the loan deal ends then explain what benefits it has to keep him, pay him crazy money when we could use that cash elsewhere.

You have convinced yourself he hasn't settled because he isn't playing and yet you ignore the possibility he might not have settled because he never wanted to come here in the first place.

  13. Save wages but also we don't pay as much in terms of a loan fee either <ok>

Pretty sure we can't just send Sahin back. Madrid aren't paying his wages this season, so whether he's playing, sitting on our bench or sitting in Madrid's training ground, we're paying them. Only way this changes is if we can agree (with Real) for another team to take him on loan - but even then, we'd still end up paying some of his wages no doubt.

He's our player, might as well keep him for an experienced, creative sub. Him coming off the bench fills me with more hope than Allen.

  15. Not if Real aren't happy with him sitting on the bench so they take him back and loan him to someone else <ok>

You'd still need that other team to take on our full wage contribution - and why would they? Even if he goes to another team, we'll be paying him to do it - at least in part.

  17. True but then we refuse to let him go. If Real Madrid are unhappy enough they will take him and either find a club willing to pay all his wages or subsidise the wages themselves.

I think we are sort of agreeing here <ok>

Sorry SM my argument was purely meant to be about wage savings. If it saves us his wages and BR isn't going to play him anyway why bother was my point. Obviously if we're paying his wages we keep him. No problem with that.

The thing is he isn't "our" player though is he. Allen is. If BR knows Sahin doesn't want to be here then **** him (pure speculation on my part but it seems a valid reason why he might not be playing him). I'd much rather he was giving Joe the game time than someone he thinks won't be here past the summer.

Sahin may be more talented but he certainly hasn't set the world on fire and hasn't shown any signs when he's played that he cares one jot for the shirt. Allen hasn't played well granted but he certainly hasn't lacked in terms of effort and for me that should give him the nod every time unless Sahin bucks his ideas up and plays like a player who wants to be here.

  19. I know its a computer game but on Fifa I tend to have a first eleven with between two and four decent subs, I fill the rest of the squad with potential youngsters. Naturally, they become unhappy at not playing plus they don't grow either. So I loan them out which obviously leaves me short on players, how do I get round this? I loan players in who I couldn't give a five about developing or keeping happy but they are there if I need them.

Now, as I said, I know that is a game but could Rodgers be thinking along similar lines when it comes to Sahin? It doesn't matter to LFC how Sahin develops but he is around to make up the squad numbers, if he performs well too then that is a bonus?

Would love to see us look to Spain.

Someone like Benat, we could have snapped him up last summer for peanuts.
