That's what you would expect with a board who backs their manager. Our board are good with the numbers, no doubting that. Ba's replacement should be at the club now. No excuse for not having him signed for me like.

This!!!!!!!!!!!
Jarramag is so right here.
We are in desperate situations, if we seriously are going for him, why not pay that extra few million quid to GET HIM NOW. The club obviously knows they'll lose him for free in the summer, so if we could pay them a nominal fee for the player they'll definitely jump at the chance, and we'll secure the player as well. Instead we're running a tight ship and insist on cutting costs? For what? Save a cent here and lose a penny there. Well done

I kind of agree. We shouldn't completely panic buy, but the Remy deal should be ****ing sorted or off by now. We cannot wait around for a striker, we need to get one in.

I will be after Ashley and Lambarse's blood if we stall on this until the final day, and then say "we tried".

Think you're getting angry a bit unnecessarilly.

Midfiled is one of the areas which we aren't in urgent need of at the moment. I'd rather we not spend our limited funds on getting a midfielder this window if we can get hm for free the next.

And the idea that the board should be able to have a striker in within a week of Ba leaving is a bit silly.

Whye we don't have a CB undergoing a medical at the moment, though, is a nother question.

I severely doubt we aren't done in the transfer markets, but my worry is we end up signing youth players who can't make an instant impact or plan b players that aren't good enough. There is very little use signing crap to save a couple of million, only to get relegated or have our best players leave because of a lack of ambition.

Suggestions that we are bidding for Bong (whoever he is) and that M'Villa has said he wants to leave...

We're also being linked with Nancy's €4m-rated 20y.o. left-back Massadio Haidara

Bbc sports day stating that Toulouse have said sissoko can leave for 3.5 million euros this window. Surely a bargain??

Why is it silly??? We've been after a striker regardless of ba leaving. How long did it take Chelsea to replace Sturidge???

Nah, I expect we're done now. There will be a couple of light hearted efforts when there's about 20 mins to go before the window shuts but that'll be about it.

See report on BBC sports page today saying Sissoko can leave Toulouse for £ 3.5 mil Euro.( Well under £3Million ) Got to be worth a punt at this price.

He'd be a good signing.

Last summer Comolli told him that LFC see him as the long term replacement for Gerrard. For some reason we never made our interest solid.

Mr Ryder on twitter has quoted Pardew as saying that transfers might not come until the last three of four days of the transfer windows, but will 'try' and get players for the Reading game. Captain Picard is looking rather spot on with that statement.

Sometimes it is possible to complete a deal in a week. It is nice when it is. I don't think you can necessarilly say it is anyone's fault, though, if it doesn't happen in a week.

I don't think Chelsea were replacing Sturridge particularly. They did have the advantage that the had a known price to release Ba, that Sturridge leaving had left them with buckets of money left over after paying that price, and that Ba was happy as heck to go the Chelsea. Newcastle don't have any of those advantages.

It would be nice to see all of our business completed early in the window. The reality is some deals take longer than others. I'll only be miffed if we get to February 1st and we don't have at least a new centre half. I'll be slightly miffed if we get to that stage and don't have a forward. They are the two I think are desperate needs in this window. I can't see the point in jumping off the deep end with the board on the 10 January without any knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes. Hopefully they'll sort all of this out sooner rather than later.

Can't Cabaye be friends with some monstrous 6ft 3 CB with the pace of a leopard, the force of a rampaging Rhino, and the grace of a Swedish mountain Elk?!

Anyway, I hope Cabaye stays for as long as possible and eventually becomes our director of football after waltzing to club legend, he obviously has talent for *cough* attracting *cough* players...:bandit:
