Bruce has to be in the prime position: Mackay: 6 games, 5 wins, 1 loss Bruce: 6 games, 5 wins, 1 draw McCarthy: 6 game, 3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses Brucey is the only unbeaten manager in the running.
In case anyone gives a damn, the player of the month nominations are: Anthony Gardner (Sheffield Wednesday) (Formerly Hull) Dwight Gayle (Peterborough) Mark Hudson (Cardiff) I'd assume Hudson will win it, but that Gayle lad has scored a few since he joined P'boro.
Almost every manager who wins it has a **** month the next. Hope we are one of the ones who avoid that.
But Brucey won it for November too and that hasn't seemed to take it's usual cursed effect on us. If Bruce wins it this month, it'll be two consecutive manager of the month awards.
I think that's a myth, it's just that people only notice if a teams form drops after winning manager of the month, it the form remains unchanged, then nobody thinks about it. So far the winners this season have been: Holloway(Blackpool) Freedman(Palace) Mowbray(Boro) Jackett(Millwall)
The whole "Manager of the month curse" is just regression to the mean. If you have a month in which you are singled out for excellence, it is naturally going to be a month in which you performed above average, so it makes sense that next month will have form which returns more to the 'average' set of results which you would expect.
Dips happen because the ball doesn't go in the net, look at last season when our defence was excellent but we couldn't score & lost games 1-0 & 2-1. Just over the last couple of weeks we have scored 2 goals in 3 games, the 2 goals scored should have been 6 or 7. A couple of sitters missed against Leicester & Blackpool & we dropped points. Luckily Leeds were **** & it was a matter of time before we scored.
Has to be Bruce. Cant see it going to his head as he has won more important things in his playing and managerial career.
Did I tell you I met Steve Bruce? I did. He certainly deserves to be manager of the month. Even if he doesn't win it, I'm going to say he did.
