The idea of throwing Gomes in to the Damiao deal is brilliant, I can't see any other way of getting rid of him. As I'm typing this I've only just realised that we sold Cudicini a couple of weeks ago, thanks be to god, our collection of goalkeepers was an embarrasment.

Boss - Tancredi Palmeri was tweeting last night saying that the Deal with Galatasaray was organised for this coming monday and prem clubs have 5 days to come up with something. (dunno whether that's true or not)
Regardless, who is going you pay his salary who genuinely needs him? you also make a good point over the injuries. He's actually demanding a lot when you think about it. I wouldn't want him anywhere near us.

Tots - last night, the "TWITS" as Boss would call them (<laugh>) posted a photo of what I think was Porto chairman Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. the tweet said "today, we love this man". inlevywetrust

make of that what you will, but sounds like there may be progress in a deal for Moutinho?

Yeah I saw that too, yet again Akqa getting everyone's hopes up! I believe the guy has info but think he makes it sound more concrete than what it actually is. Lets just hope this time it definitely will go through!

THOUGH, I have been wondering lately as to why we got Holtby in (albeit he'll likely arrive in the summer) when he plays in a similar position to what Mouts does. I'm all for strengthening the squad but surely we're going a bit OTT in the midfield department lately. Jake, Hudd, Carroll, Scotty, Holtby, Sandro, Dembele, *Sig, *Deuce and now potentially Moutinho? Holtby recently said he pretty much expects to go straight into the first team and doesn't want the "Hugo" treatment of being eased in, so with that said, how on earth will we accomodate so many good midfielders in CM/ CAM positions? Granted the first 3 names are likely to go out on loan (or Hudd maybe being sold) but that still leaves potentially 7 good midfielders fighting for 3 midfield spaces in the team... Great strength in depth but surely it could cause a bit of unrest amongst some?

Personally, i don't think Livermore quite cuts it. He is a good prem quality midfielder but he isn't a top 4 player.
Hudd, regrettably, doesn't have a future in an AVB team and doesn't seem to be getting back to form after injury, we can't wait forever.
Scotty is at the tail-end of his career and is understudy to Sandro IMO now.
Carroll is still young and not a first teamer. In 2 seasons we will know whether he will cut it with us or not.

    So that just leaves:
Sandro, Dembele, Sig, Deuce, Holtby and possibly Mouts. So 5 or 6 players for 3 positions.
Dempsey will also get games at left/right wing and up top occasionally.

yeah! haha. I immediately thought right... that's gotta be something to do with the transfers. first 4 google searches:

    Damiao agent - images
Damiao agent name - web search
    Porto FC chairman - images
Porto FC chairman name - web search.

    got it in the end!!

The other lad also posted saying that "buzzing isn't the word", which might indicate he's heard something.. - they have all been getting a lot of abuse from what I've seen on their tweets though. As a result, they now seem to be keeping it quiet, in "code talk" amongst themselves. - fair play to them if they know stuff. Twitter is full of pricks. I wouldn't stand for the abuse.

like you say the first 3 are likely to go on loan or be sold. i also think that SP will move on at the end of the season, as we look to bring youth through.

It' got so tough now to get into the CL, we will need depth over the course of this season and next. we certainly won't need any more midfielders after Moutinho! unless there's surprise plans to get rid of one such as Sig?

Yeah good point on Scotty actually. Though I still can't see how to accomodate the likes of Moutinho and Holtby in the same team while Mousa and Sandro keep playing so well. A nice problem to have I suppose if you're a manager, providing some don't throw their toys out the pram.

Yeah but even so I'm still not entirely convinced about it, once (or if!!!) the Mouts saga is over I'll trust Akqa a bit more but after the antics leading to and on the 31st Jan, it's hard to take him seriously at the moment, with or without another "ITK" seeming to back his statements up.

Hmm I hope we keep Scotty around to be honest, he's a leader and still a great player and I reckon he has another 18 months left in the tank of top tier footy left. Plus he's a Spurs fan I think so I reckon he'd wanna stay.

I was thinking Sig could be moved on, he's already below Dempsey in the pecking order now and with Holtby and possibly Moutinho coming in, his prospects are looking a bit bleak to be fair.

there will be plenty of games if we take every competition seriously next season and we'll require alot of rotation in order to deal with that. and that's not including the inevitable injuries that every squad gets.

we'll see what happens. it's all talk, but some have proven their worth in the past. Sig has been unlucky. he hasn't been the player he was last season, and sometimes it takes time for players to adjust. unfortunately when there's a big squad like ours, you have to take your chance and he hasn't really impressed when given that opportunity. - he's looked better recently though, but like you say, when AVB gets more of his own players, or others outperform him when given their chance, I also think he'll be down the pecking order. Wouldn't surprise me if he went out on loan.

I would keep Sig. He is still young and still adapting to the squad. Yeah, i know he hit the ground running with Swansea but every club/player is different. The has the ability and i believe he could play either side or down the middle so is useful cover if he's not 1st pick

I like Parker a lot and I'd like to see us encouraging him to go into coaching once his playing career's over, as he ticks all the boxes, but I can see Levy cashing in on him in the summer.
Sandro's taken his place in the first XI, Livermore's waiting in the wings to become his understudy, especially if he performs well out on loan and we could still make a fair bit on him.
Just has the 'fingerprints' of a Levy deal, to me.

Sevilla's President is supposedly in London to try and sell Negredo, at the moment.
They're a bit skint and us, the Goons and Rafa's mob are all in the frame.
