The legend himself. Loyalty counts for nothing these days... Putting what kind of pundit Big Al is aside, the man never blinked when other clubs came for him... Will always respect him as a result. We were blessed that he played so long for us.

It's really amazing the things he says. I don't think I heard a single word out of place by him. Quality! Thanks for discovering this "25 views" youtube video mate

I would give everything just to be there that day or @ 11 May 2006 or just see live one Shearer's game butt that doesnt stop me saying I was alive when Shearer scored and beat Man.U. Sunderland or any other team..He was so influenc-ial in my growing, I am glad that I choose to support a man who love his city, who has principles and make me felt in love with Newcastle.

It's great to watch it over and over again and knowing that what he spoke was from his heart.

"never blinked"?... I've heard this wasn't necessarily the case, there were 2 times he was close to leaving, once under Guillit, once under Robson, strangely both managers got sacked soon after.

However his loyalty was certainly a breath of fresh air, I get the feeling he would never have left for anything other than footballing reasons.

Wouldn't hurt for Ashley, LameArse or Pardew to listen to Keegan's introduction - too often were treated as commodities, or as an aside to a business...WE are the ones who pay the money, buy the tickets, the shirts, the magazines...Ashley might own the club, but the club belongs to us!

Seriously what happened ? A year later Keegan was gone, shearer out for 6 months and all the best players sold, something I never got my head around

The club definitely gambled on success and got carried away with doing too much too soon – but it was a great time to be fair.

Sir John Hall had such an emotional approach that fitted great with Kevin Keegan. They craved the drama and spirit of all the madness – you can see that from the video.
It was all grand press conferences and something of the North East sticking it to the football fraternity.

Signing Shearer had all that, the poetry of the homecoming etc and acquiring arguably the best striker in the world with it.

What destroyed it all was the club becoming a PLC, inner wranglings and chairmen eyeing big dividends. Killed it for Kevin and the rest is history.

Trophy success could have changed things though, get one and it breeds more.

But Alan Shearer can hold his head high, he won nowt but gave Championship winning performances every time.
It wasn't his fault and he deserved more, very cruel that his efforts don't even have a league cup or charity shield to show with NUFC.

Impossible to see that kind of blinkered loyalty these days as there's too many vultures involved... shame.
