Newcastle are hopeful of agreeing a deal with Toulouse's France midfielder Moussa Sissoko next month.

The 23-year-old friend of Yohan Cabaye is out of contract in the summer and is thought to have held talks with the North East club.

Granted it's a short piece by the Mail but I'm convinced that we'll land this chap. He is a total beast and will have Tash in overdrive I'm sure.
He's much more mobile than Tiote and has a much better disciplinary record.

    OMFG yes plz.

He's an immense player. He's 6ft 2, he's got great pace, he's very strong and he's also a goal threat.

He can also run with the ball, he's basically like a Yaya Toure, but obviously not as good. Like a middle class mans Toure.

Would be a good addition to the squad. BUT would prefer to agree a contract in Jan with him coming over at the end of the season on a free and concertrating on the defence. We NEED atleast a CB and L/RB this window.
If i see Willo lining up for anything but meaningless cup games after Jan i will be hunting Ashley, Llambias, Pardew and Carr down for questioning.

Seems decent from all accounts... let's just hope he's not a replacement for Tiote! <yikes>

Meh, I personally wouldn't care if we lost Tiote, as long as it was for a good amount and we got Sissokho.

    Taken from the Times.....

Newcastle United have edged ahead in the race to sign Moussa Sissoko, the France midfielder, on a pre-contract agreement this month with his deal at Toulouse expiring this summer.

The 23-year-old has also attracted interest from Marseilles and clubs in Italy including AC Milan and Juventus. Alain Casanova, the Toulouse coach, said yesterday that he was annoyed by the speculation surrounding his player. “Moussa is here and trains well, there is no problem,” he said.

As I've said many times, if we can get this lad in, plus Debuchy, Remy and Douglas we'll be flying, we really will..

I really hope we get him. He's big, strong, bombs forward with the ball, and his pace is deadly. He's not lightning quick, but for a 6ft 2 14 stone bloke, he is quick.

A pre contract agreement for us now is pointless. We need players now. What is the use of a pre contract agreement. If we get relegated, will he sign in the summer???? Reckon not like. That's why I don't bye the story for a second. I fully believe we are finished in the transfer market now. Don't think we will sign another player. And it's a ****ing disgrace.

There's still 21 days to go, I'm sure that the experience of the last 2 Jan windows has shown the board that waiting until the last min leaves us empty handed.

But similarly haven't our experiences shown that the club is run on a relative shoestring, and that reinforcements or squad strengthening is barely a consideration (profit first, remember), and that they couldn't really give a rats a$$ what the fans think?
