we've already gambled on one young winger from L2 this season, i'd rather us sign someone proven there for now. Hines could become a good player though, worth keeping an eye on.

Get him signed, AND get a decent winger. Hall has looked good coming off the bench, no reason Hines can't do the same until next season

The transfer window is a side-show. All we can hope for is that we don't sell our best players. The season is all but over and I can't wait to start afresh in the summer with new investment in the team and a new manager.

Whoever takes over from Warnock should take a year zero approach to the squad, the vast majority of whom should not be seen ever again near a Leeds United shirt. The only players I would keep would be:

    Lees
    Bryam
    Green
    Austin
    McCormack
    Becchio
    Hall
    Poleon
    Diouf

We should sell/release/put down the rest and spend some decent money bringing in 10-12 players with potential who could play in the Premier League.

Let's just hope the next few months go quickly.

The best part about keeping those particular players is you can just about build the foundations of a first 11 out of them. Lees and Byram at the back, Hall, Austin and Green in the middle and Becchio and McCormack up front. Diouf and Poleon as impact subs and rotation

Need to dig out my rant when we signed him and my prediction on how many games he would play

Not sure he ever really got much of a shot whilst at leeds. But we have at least three proven strikers ahead of him, 4 if you include Diouf. Good luck to him at Bradford. Is he elgible to play in the league cup for this? If so, what price him getting the winning goal to send the Bantams through to Wembley.... or even better scoring the winning goal at Wembley?

A lot of players to sell though. Kenny, Ashdown, Rachubka (who on earth would take him?!), Peltier, Kisnorbo, Bromby, Connolly, Pearce, Drury, White, Varney, Pugh, Brown, Norris, Somma, Nunez, Rogers. I make that 17, plus potentially Zac Thompson, unless he stays in the squad.

A squad re-shuffle that big would be a mess, and nobody would want half of the crap we've accumulated. If GFH are serious about promotion they better be ready to pay a hefty sum paying off some contracts.

Every season seems to pan out the same. Season virtually over midway. Looking forward to next transfer window, never the current one. Start out hoping for quality signings and finish the window lamenting our top players who have moved on because theyve figured out we have no money or ambition. Not allowed say that of course, always some other excuse. Fans hoping for some massive garage sale in summer that will clear out years of ****e that has been allowed build up at the club. This season looking any different?

Kisnorbo, Bromby, Connolly, Brown, Rogers, Ashdown and Rachubka (I think) are all out of contract in the summer. As is Somma, although we might seek to retail him. It'ss be hell trying to get rid of the ex-Pompey lot who are all on fairly long-term contracts and decent wages. I can see the likes of Pugh and Drury paid off and given free transfers.

Agree with you in general, Kiwi, but I disagree with getting rid of some of the players:

Keep: Paddy & Ashdown - I think they've done ok, personally & it would cost big bucks to replace them.

Possible chance to redeem themselves: Peltier, Drury, Norris & Somma. (I might even put Hall on this list) - we haven't seen much of them in their own positions (although Drury is not one for the future, I'll concede). Who knows how Norris will turn out with regular selection. Decent squad/backup guy to have. Think we owe Somma a chance.

Get rid: Rachubka, Kisnorbo, Bromby, Connolly, Pearce, White, Pugh, Brown, Nunez, Rogers

    Firing squad: Varney

Oh I was just referring to who jason wanted to sell. I would absolutely keep Kenny and Ashdown. Think Kenny is a good, solid keeper at this level, and we're not going to get any backup better than Ashdown.
I would keep Somma, natural goalscorer, depending on how he does for the rest of the season. Norris is a handy player to have around the squad, experienced too. Peltier I'd keep but if he's on average wages and is happy being utility player and backup. And strip him of the captaincy. If we're not going to use Drury sell him and bring in a proper LB. Hall looks like he's here to stay so he better start performing. Maybe a loan spell to league 1 needed? Who knows.

The rest can go, with the possible exception of Pearce.

At least we weren't saddled with Grays wages for too long and someone had the good sense to get rid. Why Warnock brought him in the first place is a mystery. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he on trial for weeks before we signed him? So what the hell did they see in him then

Agree, agree, agree <ok> See my previous comment regarding Dawson. Sprays a pass, creative, can put a foot on the ball. Please Warnock, give the lad a chance he is exactly what we are missing & would compliment a battler next to him. Look at how that kid from Derby took us apart, he is even younger!

I must add, this is from footage I have seen, commentary I have listened to and all the write ups the youth/developmental squad have had on the likes of WACCOE

Easy one to answer. He was a panic buy! Varney was bought originally as Becchio's backup. Snoddy went at the death & there wasn't time to replace him. Warnock announced that Varney would take Snoddy's place & then signed Gray to be Becchio's backup. Most peculiar, but true. Have to say that Gray looked a better backup for Becchio than Varney ever did!
