Allen is having confidence issues at the moment, when he first joined he would take the ball in look up swivel and pass it on smoothly. At the moment he takes the ball in, turns his back and tries to shield the ball whilst someone attempts to tackle him - dangerous play!
Did we nearly sign him when Kenny was the manager? He looks like an absolute beast and would have been a steal as opposed to Allen who looks very ordinary and cost way too much.
From the BBC Sport website 1525: TRANSFER LATEST Former Barcelona and Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma has signed for Dubai-based Al Ahli on a free transfer following his release by Besiktas. The 29-year-old Portugal international, who had recently been linked with a move to Liverpool, has agreed an 18-month deal with the five-time UAE League champions and will be formally presented this evening. I hope he's getting an obscene wage from the Arabs, because we could have used him. If we don't get Ince, that is. An experienced international on a free, who wouldn't have cost the earth in wages terms...
16:01 GMT: From Tancredi Palmer on Twitter: "Confirmation that Sneijder is taking time accepting Galatasaray bid because his agent made him aware a bid from Premier (League) could come in next days." hmmmm, got to say, think it is Spurs.
Yep and he's still only 22. Deserves time and patience and I think he could become a pivotal part of our midfield.
Breaking News: Santo's president confirms Liverpool are red hot favourites to land Neymar tomorrow for a fiver and a packet of pork scratchings. Santos will continue to pay his wages for the next four years, seven months, two weeks, one day and seventeen hours! Fantastic news if true
On a side note, in the chav swans game, one set of fans were singing a song that sounds like the Suarez one. Chelsea are known for being idiotic and stealing our songs, but Swansea are more likely to actually sing, so I don't know.
Not really the thread for it but just read McParlands interview. I wondered why Teixiera just disappeared when he signed for us: bloody back brace for months!
To be fair to him, when he came on against Sunderland he looked great. First time looping through balls, even unlucky not to get a goal. If he continues to play like that then he could start living up to his iniesta comparisons... A little bit anyway
Yeah he was very good against Sunderland when he came on - he was actually bombing forward and getting into shooting positions. I think he has a bright future with us, just last few weeks he has looked like a deer in headlights for some reason. Definitely needs to play further forward.
Great interview! Yeah that injury sounded quite serious! But as McParland says, considering he cost a lot of money (for a youngster) and he had a serious injury, there must be something special about him!
Also, what does everyone make of Rodgers's comments about finding local players rather than always looking in Spain: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...gers-urges-Liverpool-scouts-Think-Scouse.html
they are fine.... there HAVE to be players in our youth system from 8 upwards after all. if you are only dropping in 15 year olds from spain you can never have the majority from there! we buy from us (pelosi) across the uk( like ibe and sterling) and foreign (like suso and teixteria) i don't see a change in policy in what he says, merely the fact we need more players like morgan at a better standard... the other thing is our next star could be ryan mclaughlin (northern ireland)you never know.. then jerome sinclair who we bought... wheres the next gerrard? where's the young scouser? It aint flanno cos he's going to have to be sold for him to have a career, there's just too many better guys in our team (like darby sadly) it was never spearing and coady looks to be a peripheral figure. i think rogers saying we should be looking locally is fine.
Wesley sneidjer to go to galatasary for 8mil when he could have gone for 40mil a yea ror two ago? I do hope spurs can't affored 180k per week like he was asking from utd... i hear rvp hates him so this is why ferguson is not in for him.... man city need this guy so bad! what is going on?
depends if Levy sees the long term value in him against the short term cost ie CL football, wish our owners was the same, but as some have pointed out no guarantees, but surely the short term cost is worth it for the long term look ie could get CL football. i hope they don't get him as well as that will be another def club we will have to overcome to get top 4 in the future, just have to trust we are allegedly doing things the right way. just wondering who this supposed Prem club who will make an offer is, i can only think of Spurs, hope its City personally.
