I leave the Board for a week because I got screwed by a Mod, I come back and all of a sudden I'm a scum fan! The fact that we beat Chelsea during that time has seemingly turned the Mob on me. Ah well, can't win 'em all!
If you don't mind me saying Swords I think your problem is that my some on here (quite often me included) you are seen as a bit of an 'agent provocoteur' and quite often go out of your way to antagonise and goad many on here into needless arguments. Some of your posts can be well constructed, well thought out and actually entertaining, but sadly they are sometimes lost in all the bull****. It's a shame really.
Staines, I went to great efforts to write a long, thought out OP on New Years eve. One that took a good half hour to construct. There was nothing doing on the Board that night so I sought to lighten the mood with a bit of a silly wind up. No abuse, no bad language, no attacks on anyone - just a bit of light-hearted raillery. You were the first to respond and copped it straight away for what it was. One of the Mods commented soon after and he too took it in the spirit with which it was meant. Yet just when it was starting to get good, someone stepped in and closed the whole thing down. Even a permanent ban was mentioned for God's sake. So instead of being rewarded for a decent effort at an OP, we're being penalised. What kind of incentive is that for anyone to write anything other than a couple of lines of sh*te? There is a gentleman on our Board whom I've always held in the highest esteem but it seems like he's undergone a sense of humour bypass in the last couple of months. He never used to be like that. He was always pin point accurate on being able to distinguish between a humorous joke and something sinister. Let me ask you this, Staines. If the fun is extirpated from this Board, what is left? Some banal observations on a formation or team statistcs? There's a place for that of course as, after all, it is a Football Forum. But its so much more than that, isn't it? Seriously man? If we're not careful, freedom of expression is going to be sacrificed for the sake of a few miserable cranks who wouldn't know a laugh if it sat on their face. Oddball has had enough of the heavy-handedness of the powers that be and I can't say I blame him.
I do get what you are saying to a point matey, but isn't it really a case of you having pushed so far and so often in the past that now even if the WUM is quite funny (as I thought that particular one was), then it can be misconstrued as 'Swords being his usual self' ?? Then surely the blame for all that can only be placed with yourself. It seems sometimes you revelled the role of the pantomime villain and now (at times) don't like the flack you get from it. As I've said to you before, it is a shame 'cos you do often have some very interesting points of view. As for 'Crazy Dave'.....I think my opinion of him is pretty obvious and we do the best in ignoring each other, it's just better that way.
Och I don't mind the flak one iota. The more flak the better! I just thought it was OTT from the Mod to close that thread as it really was starting to get funny. Indeed it is mate. He's not everyone's cup of tea for sure.
Are we talking about the "building bridges" thing? I thought that was hilarious, one of the best things i've seen written here for a while. I do understand why it was closed though, as it had the potential to cause arguments. Were it written by anyone else it would have probably remained up, but i think your reputation precedes you here, and the mods must have felt a few of the 'anti-swords' crowd would probably be antagonized.
That maybe Swords mate, but it just seems to me anyway 'you reap what you sow' And as with my opinion of 'Crazy Dave' being pretty obvious, I think my opinion of 'Brix' is too. The guy is a legend and (again in my opinion) one of the top posters on here
This post begs the question...........if you're that unhappy with this forum, why not stay away? Have to say, it was a whole lot better when you stayed away for a week and we didn't have to put up with all your moaning, anti-QPR crap!
I agree 100%. I hated having a go at him above because I do honestly think he's a great guy (insofar as you can "know" someone from a bloody message board!). I was annoyed wiv him though so I had to get it off my chest. COL, my greatest delight on this forum is putting you straight when you drop one of your idiotic clangers. Wouldn't miss it for the World!
