Trivia question for you - Only two players have ever represented Italy whose names end with a consonant. Who are they?
This is the exact reason i stopped posting on this board, somebody who has differing opinions to the 'click' on here is instantly insulted and accused of being a poor fan etc etc. It is clear for all to see that Cortese has an influence on the players we sign and our transfer targets. With regards to the 'patsy' and tea women jibes, I think (hope) you will find it is metaphorical and GMI doesnt actually think Adkins was employed to make cups of tea...
Why do you want everything to be negative? You never post when things are going well or post anything positive, I note you haven't revisited your doom and gloom thread about our next 8 league games. We haven't lost one of those yet!
Pietro Vierchowod ( I had to look up the spelling and Burgnich (Inter Milan fullback when they were the Champions of Europe) What is my prize?? Two tickets for the Milan Derby??
Funny how you only turn up when GMI does. TBF Sharpshooter you also have something of a reputation as a WUM on other clubs boards.
People like you and gmi don't realise that it's not a matter of differing opinions because people on here have different opinions all the time. GMI, and you, both present opinions in such an aggressive, ignorant way that it riles people up.
There's also a young goalkeeper who has been in the last few squads and is likely to get a cap sooner or later called Perin (he had a really impressive game in Pescara's 2-0 away win at Fiorentina last weekend as well - maybe we should sign him!) They're allowed to sign one non-EU player per season, though you're right, they have probably used that up already.
We signed Jonathan Forte and Billy Sharpe. We made a bid for Gary Hooper. If you attribute all the Italian league players must be Cortese, then that same logic should lead you to attribute the ex-Scunthorpe players to Adkins. Which means he has some say in transfers.
I think I know what's going on here. GMI is establishing a fall-back position in the event of the Astori transfer going through. Since August he has been banging on about our lack of decent defenders, and how the Ramirez transfer stopped us getting any during the summer. Now it looks like that might be being rectified, he has to find something else to bash Cortese and Adkins about, so let's see.. ah, I know, Cortese has Italian connections > he wants to buy more players from Italy > Adkins has no choice > yadda yadda yadda. If it ever occurred to him to see some good in our present management structure instead of it being the worst thing since, well I don't know when it's the worst thing since, he might be a bit excited about the fact that we can possibly outbid clubs like Liverpool and AC Milan to bring in a defender who looks like a top prospect. Sadly he can't, but has to spend all his energy finding fault with Cortese and Adkins, neither of whom are perfect, but are both getting to grips with running a Premier League club.
Yeah, we've signed 3 players from Italy in 3 years. Papa Waigo wasn't a star but wasn't a disaster, Guly was signed when we were in League One and has done very well for us, although he's perhaps not quite up to Premier League standard, and Ramirez has been good as well. On the general point about transfers, I see no reason to believe they way we conduct our transfer business is any different to other clubs. The manager, scouts, director of football (or equivalent) and possibly the chairman identify targets as a group and the chairman then negotiates with the clubs the identified players play for. If rumours are to be believed we're targeting players in Italy. This makes sense because players in England are over-priced, the Italian league is of a high standard but relatively short of money and our chairman has Italian connections.
