No I certainly do not. Rangers were not "taking him away from his current club". Rangers offered Ryan a 10 day trial after meeting Central Coast Mariners Director of Football in Scotland. CCM said they would not stand in Ryan's way if he took up the offer which would result in him missing 1 A League match. Ryan said he wanted to go. What is "dodgy" about that? Incidentally the CCM Director of Football believes that Rangers can sign players after September but please debate that with him not me.
On Sky Sports site via the paper talk link, the rag that is the Sun says we're in competition with West Ham for Paul Robinson. But it is the Sun so make of it what you will.
Who knows? I doubt even Dovers does and he wrote it. Where has our most famous and well loved poster been? I've missed him.
Are you taking the mick now, or are you in some way related to Charles Green or Ally McCoist? "Taking him away" doesn't mean kidnapping him, it's means transporting him somewhere that means he's unavailable for his current club. His current club agreeing to the trial doesn't change the fact that by taking him on trial Rangers have created a situation where he's unavailable for them. What's dodgy about it is that as Rangers can't sign players from other clubs until next January. They can sign players from September, but only if they're out of contract at the end of August so there's no fee to motivate the current club. Looking at the A-League website the season runs until April/May. Why couldn't his trial wait until the end of the A-League season so that he didn't miss games? It's not like Rangers are going to sign an alternative player if they have to wait, and it would actually be better for Rangers to do that as they'll then see the player with the extra few months experience/development built in. I don't know what it is, but it just seems there should be more to the situation than meets the eye.
We have one and he is called Jakupovic. No rush for a GK as we have Oxley as back up for league games and Cracknell for the FAC games. We can wait and loan a keeper if not in jan then in Feb when the emergency loan window opens up. Next priority is to get the striker into the club. Well he was on wednesday. Unless of course somebody knows different now. ???? Simon Moore from Brentford would make great sense as back up to Jakupovic and then we can send Mark Oxley back to Burton Albion.
Not Mig, but for some reason, i wouldn't be suprised if Bruce comes in for Kieron Westwood... A good keeper, and deserves games...
Again from the CCM Football director Lawrie McKinna: Quote"At the moment Rangers cannot sign players until September and we want to extend his contract but obviously Mat's got aspirations to go overseas. We are obviously keen to keep Mat until the end of the season to see out his contract with us." So Mat Ryan's contract runs out at the end of the current A League season which is in April making him available for signing in September if he elects to play for Rangers. So again I do not see anything "dodgy." January is not relevant in his case. Also I am not related to the two gentlemen that you mention nor is it my posting style to "take the mick".
The January bit is relevent because it prevents Rangers bringing in alternative players due to delays in running the trial. It's dodgy that Rangers feel the need to bring him in for the trial now instead of waiting til April when they're still playing in Division 3 (ie players won't be on holiday yet) but the A-League is over. There's something more to trying to do it now rather than in an international break or at the end of the season, but maybe I'm giving too much credit for planning to the man who's trying to threaten the rest of Scottish football with a Rangers pull out if the league restructuring doesn't go the way he wants. After all, he has done that without considering the fact FIFA don't just let clubs move from one country to another any more.
Bruce has already said that rumours about him being in for Westwood and Robinson are wide of the mark.
What car does Stockdale drive? I was overtaken by a silver Audi 4x4 mid pm yesterday heading north on the M18. Personal plate something like "STOCKO". No way would that be heading to his Leeds, his family base, as the M62 westbound was like a car park..
Might have it. Mrs BMB, as the player is only 20 FIFA rules don't give him the ability to move to any club as a free agent, just to foreign ones. If he joins another Aussie club there'd be compensation to be paid, which can either be agreed between the two clubs or go to a tribunal. Does the A-League has a rule extending free agent status to U23s? It wouldn't surprise me if CCM were using the Rangers interest to try to hurry up an Aussie club into agreeing compensation so that they can get more cash from them.
In the A- League it is not uncommon for young players to leave for short term trials with overseas clubs during the January transfer window. Indeed if we look at the Central Coast Mariners today they have one 20 yr old player currently trialling with Celtic and other(19) trialling with Club Brugge. If Mat Ryan had not cancelled his trial at Rangers their 3 young star players would have been away at the same time but each would only have missed 1 game.
