Other countries have tried the model of the new structure and abandoned it. Scotland will do so also, so why have it in the first place. It's simple. The SFL. Clubs want to milk the SEVCO cow for as long and as much as they can. No real promotion from 3 rd div. you couldn't make it up. The diddly clubs have their pot of gold and they will not let it go.
Elaborate please? I don't know what the proposed set up is. A model not working somewhere else does not necessarily mean it will not work in Scotland.
Rangers will be in the top divission soon enough so if moving Scootish football under one body by mergeing SPL and SFL then this is a good thing... even better if they could get SFA in as well and have one govering body running scottish football. SFLs proposal wasn't great SPLs proposal wasn't great But there no viable solution... Home and Away once a season doesn't work - to many home games lost, twice a season in a 12 team league is to many games!!!
I do not think a thread about restructuring need to necessarily be placed here. Obviously the accusations that this proposal is for the sole benefit of Sevco will weigh heavily in the subject matter but there is a lot more to it than one club. Please reconsider.
It is a major point in all this and I am sure it will be discussed. I don't really know what the proposals are. I saw 12-18-12 but I don't know the make up, or under whose auspices this will be SPL or SFL?
Again, fair point, so point taken.Of course it's a major point but not the only issue... Here ye go: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20941213 http://www.scotsman.com/sport/footb...way-to-get-rid-of-meaningless-games-1-2723416
I'm all for it, it can be no worse than the current set up and a change is as good as a rest and at least we will not have the ridiculous split which sees some teams play others in 3 home games.
Thanks, I wasn't being lazy, I just hadn't seen it. My one comment on Sevco is that if the SFL and the SPL amalgamate then the body who contended that Rangers ceased to operate as a football club gets wiped out. The myth will live on uncontested. The question is whether or not we give a **** about waiting around to use it as proof of something that is already obvious. I don't think I care. I think the idea is quite ambitious and I am not against it. What was the name of the report that recommended a 10 team SPL a while back? Was that an SFA thing or an SFL thing?
the unaddressed issue - in my humble opinion- is that a 42 team senior set up is completely non-viable in scotchland ; deal with that and the rest could fall into place.
Didn't they have a mad league set up in Argentina that was contested over two years when they were changing from that before winter/After winter set up thingy?
Malvinas war The spirit has stirred and the nation has begun to assert itself. Things are not going to be the same again.....League reconstruction is here to stay.
I have no doubt that the interests of all clubs in the SPL, SFL and even non league clubs will benefit. Anyone who says that these reconstructions are only for Sevco must be only doing so because they are bigoted.
Not sure if this is directed at me, but to clarify, if you read the original post of mine, I actually make the point that the reconstruction is to SEVCO disadvantage and to the advantage of SFL clubs, as it averts fast tracking of anyone. The recent rant from SEVCO or TRFC or TRIFC or whatever is IMO aimed at the necessity to maintain the victim culture to ensure that the fans of SEVCO, TRFC or TRIFC or whatever, pay ST books next season. Monies desperately required to ensure the survival of the club. It is for this reason that the liquidation of the club is denied, despite the evidence from CH, DP, RFC withdrawal from the Plus SX, UEFA, actions of the SFA, TRAYNOR in his former employment, to build up resentment necessary to see them through the next few seasons, however the share issue undersold by the required £27m to the tune of £5m and no company can survive such an undersell. Money from the share issue was needed for operating costs, extremely unusual in business, reflecting the use of EIS and VCT only applied to very risky new business start ups. I predict another share issue, but this time the tax avoidance for risky start up businesses will probably not apply and consequently will rely on a fan based purchase of shares and we all know how unsuccessful that has been with them, so expect a more intense build up of the victim culture. It is these few future years of desperate survival, which require keeping the fans onside by appealing to the illusionary self created sureal victim culture. This explains the present rants and future rants from within, however such a strategy is not without its inherent dangers, when appealing to the Boyne Bampots element sadly within the fan base. This may well all end in tears, one way or another.
Argentina uses a 3 year average to decide relegation (designed to help the big teams and, some would argue, River Plate in particular). Austria and Switzerland both did this and neither do it anymore Yesterday, I thought it was a daft idea - replace an unpopular split with hunners of splits but now I think it's definitely better than we have - teams in lower leagues have a better chance of getting promoted from the 1 up 1 down stuff and, if I'm honest, the bottom tier with 18 teams sounds much better than the as-is. Here's the bit I'm wondering about (the split will now be even which is a blessing). When the "Playoff 8" happens (bottom 4 of the Premiership and top 4 of the Championship), obviously, their points will be reset to zero, won't they? I mean it doesn't seem fair that half a season's points against the lower teams of the set-up should equate with having to play the best teams. Similarly, the "Super 8". Will points continue like now (seems the most obvious way) or will they be reset? I haven't seen this clarified in any of the things I've read about it - it would make sense for the points to be retained in the Super 8 but scrubbed at the split for the playoff 8 - otherwise, the term Playoff 8 is a right misnomer. EDIT: Just read the BBC link properly it looks like it's only the playoff section that will have their points reset. Nothing to see here, go back to work, etc
