Yes I know, but there has been:

    Batatusta.
My favourite - the incomparable - de Stefano

    Favourite Antipodean - Aussie Ardilles.

What's yours - discuss if you wish.

ps - anyone saying Arismende will be ignored!!

An international team mare of our good friend Luis Suarez: Edison Cavani. A few years ago there were rumours that we, and a few other "lower" Prem teams wanted him, then he went to Napoli and turned out to be their best player. Now Man City want him apparently.

    Any votes for Maradonna ?

Well he does not get mine. I , like Nick , go for the "blond arrow" , Alfredo di Stefano. In the fifties english papers had good coverage of top European clubs matches , and that meant Real M. , whom Alfredo played for , and I couldn't wait to read about him , Gento and Ferenc Puskas , but primarily Alfredo. Aaahh , those were the days.

    Gordon Banks England

Lev Yashin Russia, I remember seeing him at Sir Stan's testimonial... he was a giant of a man too!

Kickabow did'nt Alfredo de Stefano play in that game too? I know Pele did. I sometimes wish we could turn the clock back and see em all one more time.

    Bloody youngsters!!
    Real's centre-half - Santamaria not too shabby!

I did see Real Madrid play live at Hampden against Eintracht - if my memory salerves me well 7 - 3 to Real, twas a birthday pressie from my Uncle who played for Scotland in the 40's early 50's

Some of the world's best ever players came , di (not de) Stefano was there. A little bit off topic ( southern hemisphere greats ) but I am not sure if it was that match , Stan's testimonial match , but I remember Gento centreing the ball with a "cannonball" shot that Puskas met with his head full on and it hit the bar with such force it looked like it was made of rubber. They didn't have these poncey plastic balls in those days. Stoke end at the Vic.

Thought this was quite a funny protest from last year. Not sure how you'd go about smuggling a chicken into a stadium though.
