I remember seeing a stand up comedian at the old Hull Truck a few years ago and Devilfish answered the warm up guys retorical question so he tried picking on Devilfish asking him what he does with the answer "Im a professional gambler" which the so called comedian tried taking the piss along the lines "yeah right, you mean your on the dole and dpend all day in the bookies" the comedian soon backtracked when he found out who he was trying to take the piss out of

Has anyone mentioned Nick Barmby and Dean Windass not many of you will know these up and coming youngsters

I think he went down in a few peoples estimations when that video of him with Bullard in The Weir showed up. He has actually probably had more TV airtime than the Walking Dead guy I reckon when you tally in all the poker shows, not seen much of him lately though.

Andrew Lincoln was born in London before moving here as well.

His real name is something like that, benefit of the doubt it could be his older brother he went to Cott with?

Based in Hull, but wasn't it them that had Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) as a member?

Reece Shearsmith (the young one in League of Gentlemen). He's even done a Hull accent sound clip for something or other that was done to promote the place a few years ago. If you watch the show as well there's loads of references to Hull built into it.

i think two of the Housemartins were from Hull - the one that went to prison and the drummer , Stan and Hugh , also one of them turned to writing books .

Im sure if i read wiki i could make a more definite answer but wheres the fun in copying wiki when u can ramble bollocks instead :D

Norman Cook is from Brighton and my SIS and her then BF were put up in a hotel by that Paul Heaton bloke cant remember where or why but it was for a wkend away

Hugh was the drummer who went to prison, or at least he'd better be or I'm in trouble next time I see him.

Hugh Whittaker was the drummer (still is a drummer - I saw him at a gig in York - and lives in Leeds). He went to jail for setting fire to a second-hand car-dealer's - cos the guy had ripped him off over a motor.

Stan Cullimore is from Hull - he's the writer. Ted Key was originally in the band and he's from De Grey Street.

The group "Everything But The Girl" were from Hull. They had a hit in the 90s with "Missing".

Maybe. I think half the thread is all muddled with people who aren't from here, but became famous/ had success whilst living here.

I know the Paddingtons are deffo City fans.
