According to the club website today is "Judgement Day" Who will stay and who will move on to pastures new? Players already contracted for next season include Bull, McCoy, Winfield, Strevens, Betsy, Lewis and a few youngsters. Ainsworth has also been offered a new deal.
So far so good, Manager Gary Waddock is currently meeting members of his squad to inform them of his decisions regarding their contracts with the club. The following players have been offered new contracts: Gareth Ainsworth (accepted), Steve Arnold (accepted), Chris Westwood (under consideration), Danny Foster (under consideration), Leon Johnson (under consideration), Matt Bloomfield (under consideration). The following players have not been offered contracts: Sam Belcher, Dan Fitchett, Stuart Green, Alan Bennett. The following players are awaiting news: Keiran Murtagh, Jon-Paul Pittman, Lewis Montrose, Stuart Beavon, Jerome Federico. The following players are already under contract for the 2011/2012 season: Nikki Bull, Andy Sandell, Dave Winfield, Scott Rendell, Kevin Betsy, Ben Strevens, Stuart Lewis, Marvin McCoy, Matt McClure, Anthony Stewart, Josh Scowen, Jesse Kewley-Graham, Kadeem Harris.
Live contract updates on the offal, a brilliant service offered by the club. Shame about Montrose, and Murtagh to a certain extent, but obviously looks like Waddock wants to make the midfield much stronger for league 1. I hope all the players currently quoted as under consideration accept what is offered to them, they're all worthy of a place in the squad for next season IMO. Sounds like there is a very tough decision to be made on the futures of Beavon and JPP.
That is a surprise, looks like we will be keeping Blooms and Murtagh. Pleased Foster has signed as he can provide cover for McCoy and Sandell (although I would like to see a proper left back signed)
JPP is gone! I'm against Waddock with this decision. Although he has not been match fit and consistent this season, if match fit, he can be a great impact sub.
If it was a straight choice between Beavon and JPP, then I think the right decision has been made. We now need to go out and get a proven goalscorer, which JPP was not.
I agree with Wandermagic, if it was a straight choice then right decision made. Shock of the day for me was Montrose who hasn't done anything wrong, it's just that Lewis is better.
I'm guessing it came down to either Beaver or JPP. Agree right decision although sorry to see him JPP go.
The Montrose and JPP decisions are not the ones I would have made but so be it. Scott Davies, Scott Donnelly and Marvin Morgan look like viable replacements.
I think we can only really judge the Montrose and Pittman decisions once replacements have been made. Waddock obviously feels he can get better than them and make the squad stronger. They're both good players and will have no trouble finding another club, but they are by no means amongst our star performers. Interesting that Beavon was given a 2 year contract, looks like he could be a big part of Waddock's plans. I'm really pleased he has stayed and I hope the others offered new deals follow suit.
totally agree mate i am a big fan of jp and have defended him on here many times but this season he hasnt done it when given the chance so i think gw has made the right choice beever runs his heart out and jp has got too lazy.but i wish jp all the best at his new club
Not realy surprised about the ones leaving feel sorry for JP and Montrose and hope Johnson Westwood and Bloomfield accept allowing GW to get straight into his transfer targets
Suprised about Montrose, seemed a good player. Not at all suprised about JPP - we cant be carrying someone who is only going to be fit for 15 games and score a hatrick in one of them!! I wouldnt be suprised if Waddock knows who he is going after and feels he has a good chance of getting them so is making space accordingly. Be good if we can keep Leon too though....
