Darren Bent came on as a sub, then went off injured. Weimann has some bruising but according to BBC West Midlands, will be fine.
Whilst Villa's defence looks painfully weak, they still have some brilliant players going forward in Benteke, Weimann, N'Zogbia and Bent. With Fonte and potentially Clyne set to miss out it could be the battle of the poor defences so a goal-fest is on the cards? Having said all that, I'd happily settle for a boring 1-0 win.
It's why we really need to score first (and, hopefully, second). Villa can put the ball in the net, but their composure vanishes the second they go down a goal; Swansea should have been up three or four within 20 minutes in their last PL game. Set-pieces could be pretty important...we've gotten a bit quiet from them of late, but Villa's defending on corners is an utter shambles, so we'll have opportunities if we can get a few good deliveries.
First 20 minutes will be massive. If we have chances & don't put them away, we could be in trouble, but if we get our noses in front, could well play into our hands. One things for certain, it will be nerve wracking!
Into which net? Nah. That's not fair and I really like Jos. Hopefully he'll sink a goal this weekend, that would certainly kill some of the demons from the early part of the season for him.
What Jos could do is get as close to Benteke as he can and stand on his laces, that will cramp his style.
It's not a Tuesday, though. My prediction: Jos glances one into traffic, where it bounces off an unsighted Guly and into the net.
I used to love it when Kenny Monkou came up for a Tiss corner. Sorry, mild case of nostalgia clouding the main point which for me is that this is the PERFECT opportunity for Jos to lay some demons to rest. Think about it, as footballers go, he's one of the brighter of the bunch - he knows this is important both for the team and for him - I cannot begin to imagine how motivated the poor sod is to prove a lot of doubters, and I include himself in that, wrong. I think he'll have a blinder of a game.
Says on Sky that Bradford's team cost £7,500. Congratulations to both the players and, especially, the manager.
One word of warning: football is a funny old game. We must be looking at this filled with confidence of going and winning three points, but it is not a certainty. Hopefully Lambert will spend all week working on defending and they will forget about going forward!
