Just for a bit of fun can anyone select a team only from premiership players who can give Fifa's best team a run for their money. I know we have some jacks that are good at picking teams but this is open to everyone...Its not as easy as you think....

    Fifa team of the year

    Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)
    Dani Alves (Barcelona)
    Gerard Pique (Barcelona)
    Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
    Marcelo (Real Madrid)
    Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)
    Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid)
    Xavi (Barcelona)
    Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
    Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid)
    Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Honestly I was mortified that all the players are from the big teams in Spain but it's really hard to argue in truth (although Cole is a better LB than Marcelo)
RVP when not being murdered by Williams is probs close but still not better than Messi, Ronaldo or falcao.

Premiership is actually quite poor on an individual level when compared to the best of Spain.

    Joe Hart

    Cole
    Vidic
    Kompany
    Ivanovic

    Yaya Toure
    Lampard
    Rooney
    Bale

    Van Persie
    Tevez

I reckon that team would give anyone a decent game

    Easy...

    Vorm (Swansea)
    Rangel (Swansea)
    Chico (Swansea)
    Williams (Swansea)
    Davies (Swansea)
    Britton (Swansea)
    Routledge (Swansea)
    Hernandez (Swansea)
    Dyer (Swansea)
    Michu (Swansea)
RVP (Man Utd) - just to give the other teams some glory.

Manager, mmm let me see - M. Laudrup.

4-1 to the premiership team, 2 goals each for Michu and RVP. Chico unfortunately sent off for a high kick, although TV evidence shows there was no contact, his feet were well above Messi's head.

forgot Bale, his diving would fit right in with La Liga too!
Kompany another good shout but not as good as Pique for me.

I think both vorm & tremmel are better than joe hart imo. michu would give rvp a run for his money but i think suarez would be the no1 striker. No other swans players just the goalkeeper. laudrup to be the manager though...

    What's your team Dai?

I disagree on Joe Hart I reckon he's the best keeper in the league for me. Suarez only makes my bench as does Michu. No other Swans player involved for me

    My 7 subs are

Czech, Michu, Suarez, Aguerro, Cahill, Carrick and Glen Johnson

I've gone on form so far this season

Come on now Dai it was your idea after all.

There's no right and no wrongs but this is open to a right cracking debate which could go on and on. You know you want to. In reckon we could get 4 pages on Suarez V Van Persie alone.

The FIFA team looks good - on paper - but the game isn't played there.
So,who says these players would gel as a unit?
How many egos involved that would prevent them actually playing together as a unit?
I reckon Bradford City would give them "a run for their money"

    Vorm

    LB: Baines
    CB: Kompany
    CB: Williams
    RB: Angel

    CDM: Britton
    CDM: Toure
    AML: Bale
    AMR: Rooney
    AMC/SS:Michu

    FW: Van Persie

That team can score a few goals against any on the planet, even mixed and matched. Toure, Britton and Rooney are just as apt as the Spaniards at keeping possession and passing accuracy, the difference is the spaniards happen to be in the same team and thus they are able to do better as a team. Between Michu, RVP, Rooney, and Bale there is a serious goal threat that even Barca would struggle against on the counter attack.

With the tenacity of Rooney, Toure and Britton the spaniards wouldn't have as much time on the ball that they are used to. These three players are hounds, they never stop running and can last the 90 minutes chasing if need be to make the Spaniards make their own mistakes, when pressured.... they do misplace passes. Toure loves running from box to box, with Bale and Rooney that is a rapidly quick counter attack that the Spaniards do not really have an answer for, because their two fast players do not like tracking back, they would have two prolific goal scorers ahead of them to pass to for the final killer shot.

In defence you have the almost ever reliable Kompany, the ever improving and now immensely accomplished Baines, the most consistent and hungry defender the league which Williams, and the best right back Rangel who is as good going forward as he is going back. Plus Williams and Kompany have a knack for linking defence to midfield that only the Spaniards can match.
In goal, Vorm is far superior. Even Casillas has been dropped by Real Madrid, their next best is Valdes who to be honest has had Barca to gloss over his statistics. Even Barca fans admit they are lightweight in the La Liga regarding keepers.

I would say that Team La Liga would likely win 6 out of 10 games, but that Prem team could get four of them. The team has a lot of options and players who could combine for various tasks to combat the FIFA team.

That FIFA team would be massively hindered by the ego's involved, you have players who hate each other. The Barca players would bias other Barca players, Real players biasing other Real players and from that opportunities would be missed because of poor decision making. The EPL team would be more coherent.

Cole, Kompany, Agger, Baines (A fully fit and in-form Vidic would replace Agger)
    Y. Toure, Silva, Scholes
    Suarez, RVP, Bale

EDIT: Had to rush as soon as I finished, but in addition I think that'd be a cracking attacking game.

I was surprised that Pique merited a place this time round. No Pirlo or indeed any Dortmund, Bayern, Juve or even Chelsea players...

    Anyway

    Lloris
    Johnson
    Kompany
    Vertonghen
    Bale
    Ramires
    Toure
    Dembele
    Silva
    RVP
    Mata

Although I think Suarez could replace Silva based on this season.
