Why? I didn't think being a GK was especially strenuous on your body.

(Certainly wasn't when I did it.)

He's 28, in theory he wont even reach his peak as a goalkeeper until he is 31/32. What a foolish move.

Who else is there to play in goal for England now?

Hart and Green? Harper has to get a call up.

Capello will choose David Seaman based on current form...

I think its more of a "im probably not going to be given much chance, so no point in going" the england squad is 11 players capello likes to rim and the rest are just an audience to watch the rimming.

the sad thing is this has been going on for england far too long, just look how long heskey hung onto his place in the squad and he only lost the place because he chose to retire

Joe Hart is hugely over-rated at the moment.

Such bad luck for Harper, he cant really be called up if Krul is currently playing for us can he? Still easily one of the top 3 English keepers this year, especially if you remove Robinson and Foster (both retired).

Some other young keeper was called up ahead of him last time. If Newcastle is too far north, Glasgow is unthinkable.

  13. In my opinion, it should go in this order -

    Hart (Citeh)
    Harper (Toon)
    Robinson (Blackburn)

Fraser Forster should get a call up - he may yet be the goalkeeper in a Premier League winning team, ok it's only the Scottish Prem but he must have kept a few out for Celtic so close to Rangers in the league.

I think Scott Loach of Watford will be called up over Harper, as much as I want Stevie to get a call up :\

Robinson has retired. Isn't there a rule if you've been at a club for 3 years before your 21, and you have no senior caps, you can play for the country you are playing in. How about Krul?

I agree. He's nowhere near as good as some would like to think.

The 3 years before 21 thing is to quality as a homegrown player. You need to be a citizen of a country (ie hold a passport) to qualify for that country, which he should be eligible for this summer I believe. However he's represented Netherlands at youth level, and been included in competitive first team squads.
