we often lose games when cleverly don't play and we do control game when he is playing.. not sure which UTD games you are watching ?
so we are crap at back, get over run by teams in mid .. yet 7 points ahead <doh>

we lost games this seasons and outrun by mid when playing scholes and/or giggs . EX: when lost to Norwich or Spurs
when we have Anderson or Cleverly, we are too mobile .. remember how great start UTD had at the start of last season (with both pair starting ) including the famous 8-2 .. unfortunately everything faded once the pair injured .. even this season once we have either of them, we look much solid and mobile

He's a fantastic player and will become England's best for a long time. However he needs to sort out his attitude, he is too easily riled and is constantly at the ref 24/7.

Personally, I think we benefit from his 'bite' in midfield.

So a 21 year old whos only been back a few months after over a year out has nearly as good stats as a 23 year old who has not had any long term injuries that I am aware of. And add to that that Wilshere plays in a more competitive role and its even more impressive

It helps to paper over the cracks when you have such excellent forward players. Hernandez would walk into every starting 11 in the top 6 except City and he's just one of your back up players. Cleverley however wouldn't get into any other side in the top 6, except maybe Chelsea.

Nearly as good stats? Did you only look at the passing stat?

Put age on there for perspective. For his age, Wilshere is much better.

Where's assists? Tackles attempted? Tackles won? Forward passes? Anyone can pick and choose the stats they want to make someone look better. As I said though, even for the stats you've chosen Wilshere is better for his age.

Really, he has quite obvious anger issues on the pitch and is way to easy to rile up very akin to Rooney, he will get sent off a lot if he keeps it up. I also like is bite and desire but it definitely needs to be tempered

The ones in the picture I Am Gooner quoted. I don't think the stats actually mean much, as I've already stated, I think Wilshere's a much better player.

I just think you need to be careful not to temper his temperament too much. It's because of his desire and 'die for the cause' attitude that makes him the player he is. I don't think he's a dirty player, he's committed and as I mentioned I think we benefit from his 'bite' more than we would a 'placid' player. I've lost count of the number of times we've been accused of lacking fight, being too easily bullied etc. I think Wilshere is just what we need in the centre of Midfield <ok>

Jack is going to likely be England captain and an Arsenal legend (unless the board has other ideas.) Cleverly is decent, but not in the same calibre as Jack. It shows stats are meaningless without context. And i'm sure Jack has scored about 4 goals for us, not 2.

Cleverley probably has a better goal scoring record than players like Xavi, Iniesta and Modric too. Doesn't mean he's better.

It may just be league appearances, I stole the picture from the United board for an attempt at some banter. I do think Arsenal fans tend to over rate Wilshire, United fans over rate Rooney, Spurs to Bale etc.

I don't feel like finding the comment but in regards to Cleverly not being injured, he was injured most of last year. Hurt his ankle against Bolton which was the game after the 8-2. He was then out most of the season after setbacks from his injury. Not nearly as bad as Wilshire, but he didn't get a chance to progress much last year. This year he has become a much better player.

He good but let him play 3 season at the top of his game than that will show us how good he really is to tell you the truth he might not even be has good as Paul Merson. am not a hater but the man i don't think he has play a season and a half for us yet. I watch so much football and there are so much young gifted midfielders out there so we will know soon.

Paul Merson was a ****ing legend for us <ok> If Jack's career at Arsenal turns out to be as good then we're onto a winner. Personally, whilst he's a different type of player altogether, I think he'll go on to eclipse Merson.
