The game is scheduled to be played at Langtree Park on Tuesday 8th January 2012 with a kick-off time of 7PM. LFCTV (Sky channel 429) will be showing the game with build-up beginning at 6PM. Preview. Group 5 in the NextGen Series will reach its dramatic conclusion tonight as Liverpool face reigning champions Inter in a match they must win to qualify. With all on the line Liverpool’s exciting young team will come out fighting against one of the best in the tournament. The last encounter between these two resulted in a five goal thriller. Included in the goals was Adorjan’s fantastic curling free-kick, which unfortunately for the Reds was little more than a consolation following Galliano’s superbly taken winning goal minutes earlier. (Click here for the highlights) The English side currently sit on six points, making them the fifth best of the 3rd placed teams; of which only four qualify. (Click here to see the group tables) However if they take all three points at St Helens they will beat Marseille to the final qualifying place; anything less and they are out. That said Liverpool are in fine form, particularly at home where they are unbeaten with seven goals in just two games. With talents such as Conor Coady and Krisztian Adorjan, they are one of the top scoring sides in the tournament and unfortunate to be sitting in third place. These aren’t the only talents likely to be on display on Tuesday, with Liverpool’s 16-year-old Jerome Sinclair a possibility. The English striker is a quick, skilful player that has already caught Brendan Rodgers eye; the manager made him the youngest ever player to play for Liverpool in September. Inter themselves boast a wealth of talent, including names such as Joseph Duncan and Stefano Padovan. Despite already having qualified the Italian side will come out to prove themselves worthy champions, and with nothing to lose are likely to play some exciting football. So this game means nothing and in all likeliness we will get battered by the team currently topping the group...? Can't wait
Definitely doesn't mean nothing. Win tonight and we qualify. Draw or lose and we're out. A lot still to play for! Got a feeling we'll do well tonight. We have lost all our away games in the group but our last two games (Home games against Rosenborg & Dortmund) we've scored seven times and conceded just the one. Inter have nothing to play for (They have the group sewn up) and we have. 3-1 Liverpool! Hopefully...

This should help explain it. In effect, the top two sides from each group qualify along with the top four 3rd place finishers. That will create 16 teams in which the competition can progress from there.
The English side currently sit on six points, making them the fifth best of the 3rd placed teams; of which only four qualify, we need the 3pts to go into the 4th position. chris beat me too it
Cheers guys. Chris knows I don't always read the match threads, this time was no different but obviously I should have done. @ chris
Not too much to report in the opening 25 minutes. Inter putting 10 men behind the ball and we haven't been able to break them down so far. Was a shout for an Inter penalty after Adorjan played Fulton short and the Inter player nipped into the box. Adorjan got the challenge back in and it looked a good challenge.
