Before his injury he was a developing into a great player, and his passing stats were something like 84% completion rate with 23% of those passes being forward attacking passes. Since he has come back his pass rate is now something like 88% with 26% being attacking forward passes. I must admit that I never thought he'd come back and hit the ground running in the way he has. After missing a whole season through injury, I thought it would take him a few months to get back to anywhere near his best. Not only has he done that straight away, he is surpassing his abilities from before his injury. Still only just 21 years old, he has plenty of time to develop and get even better. Jack will become a truly world class player in my opinion and I can see him go on to become an England cornerstone in the same mould as Gerrard, Hoddle and Robson. He's as important for us now as Xavi and Iniesta are for Barca and what's more, he has the same love for Arsenal as those players do for Barca. Jack is Arsenal through and through and I think he'll go on to become our captain for many years to come.
Good with the potential to be world class. But there are a lot of mfs in the world better than him, but he does have to be the potential to be among the best in the world if not the best. I would say this he could probably walk into most Mf's in the world. He needs to improve his shooting, goal scoring, his passing, his vision and most importantly he needs to sort out his temperament but it is truly surprising how quickly he has settled after 14 months out..
Nothing wrong with his temperament as far as I can see. I think he needs an 'edge' but he's not a dirty player. How many times have we been accused of being lightweight, or lacking fight ? He's has just the type of mentality needed in the heart of midfield.
Yeah he's better than many realise. He does things that only TOP class midfielders can do. Strong, technically superb and aggressive the little lad has a great future. He will be one of the very best.
I still do not think Wilshere is actually anywhere near his best, which is scary because he is at a pretty good level at the moment. His forward passing has not been the same, especially the long passes, he is not finding them with the same accuracy he was doing before the injury. When he gets back to his best and keeps developing he can easily be one of the best, just in time for us to sale him.
Jack has that special ability that all top players have which is to perform his decisions at the speed of thought. This is a rare ability and we have it in jack. The thing that really sets him apart from the other players in our squad is the tenacity he possesses some call it the nasty side of jack but I call it a relentless personality. I read somewhere that he would cry out of frustration when playing as a pre teen because the other kids could not play to his standards.
All that proves is that they are playing in different positions. Wilshere is a proper CM while Cleverley has played off the front two or even in wide positions for Man Utd. He does not seem to have a fixed position. Wilshere tends to sit alongside Arteta with Cazorla ahead of them. Although, I think even Wilshere has said that he needs to improve in front of goal. Which I think he would have developed by now had he not missed 15 months of football.
You cynical bastard In all seriousness though, I think Jack is one of those rare breeds, like Gerrard who are loyal to their clubs. He calls Arsenal 'His' Club. I think he will be with us for many years to come
Cleverly has been played mostly played next to Carrick in the midfield in. 442. Wasn't really trying to compare them, just trying to be a dick! IMO the Smartest thing Hodgson could do is play Cleverly and Wilshire together for in the midfield for England. Really the only way forward as far as the midfield is concerned.
In a 4-4-2, one of the mid fielders does have to join the attacks, so he does have more freedom to get into the final third. A midfield three of Carrick,Wilshere and Cleverly could most definitely work for England.
Cleverly only played at wing in 2-3 games , he is often a CM who play as AM sometimes just like Jack but both are different players , while Jack is more creative and technical , Cleverly work harder and always in the move and he has great first touch and awareness of players around him to keep ball going fast, he fancy to shoot too, and he is a better tackler too
Hence the 'or even in wide positions', because I know he has also played there and can play there and was highlighting how he has played in numerous different positions compared to Jack, so no need for the . Wilshere's position is a lot more fixed because we already have someone like Cazorla moving everywhere in midfield, so we can't two of those in midfield.
Wilshere's shaping up to be a great player but Cleverly I'm far less convinced of, especially in terms of actual playing ability at the moment. Young Tom is part of a midfield that regularly gets overrun and a team that relies on having far superior forwards than their opposition.
Did alright against Man City and Chelsea and Arsenal though. Our midfield is fine its our defence thats been the problem but that will be ok soon when Vidic gets back to 100%.
tbh the position they play in is often the same and if it has been changed is for tactical reasons as you said bcz they need them somewhere else but the key difference is their style of play and skills .. Jack meanwhile is 2.5 years younger, thus have more time to develop and improve his other skills
He does but the annoying thing is he would have developed more of those skills (especially in front of goal) if he had not missed 15 months of football.
