Am I the only one who thinks that Fergie isn't losing it and is in fact just doing the usual and diverting press attention away from the dreadful performances of the team? After all, defensively, United are as bad as I can recall for the last 20 years. The only way things are being held together is the attitude of 'we'll score more than you'. I mean, some of the arguments are completely mad unless you actually accept its all a smokescreen...
so UTD are in crises? so other clubs are not when we are 7 points ahead? what a muppet? if we leak goals at back .. we score plenty in attacking .. why you ignored that part ? and we leaked goals bcz of injuries and now all CBs are back and we will have more regular starters to inject stability at the back
Dreadful performances ?? Hmmmmmm Also our dreadful defense has only conceded 2 more than LFC defence which 'supposedly' contains world class players such as Agger, Skertl and Johnson. Strange that. You seem to be forgetting the early Larent Blanc days if you think this defense is bad
Can't remember a successful team that ever had a different attitude. Or should we now have adopted the Benitez attitude of "we won't concede more than you"?
OK, so 'dreadful' is relative to how you've played in other recent seasons. Forget, if you can, your instant need to relate everything back to Liverpool FC, as if your damaged psychological needs are almost as pathological as an Everton fan. Nonetheless, if, for a moment, you can forget I'm a Liverpool fan, and respond as if I was, perhaps a Crewe Alex fan asking the question - Is this his clever way of deflecting scrutiny from problems you are having at the back? And are you putting this down to the disruption of injuries denying you a settled back 4? Or a need to replace any of the current crop? I'm genuinely interested in your responses, as unlike others, I don't make a huge study of your performances in general...
hhhh we had injuries at the back and our back 4 kept changing ... anyone with basic knowledge in football knows you need a stability at the back to start performing at your best, you said let us forget you are a liverpool fan .. well you need to ask yourself this QS first , bcz your point is laughable .. come to us when we we have a stable back 4 and still leaking goals , then you may have an argument we have 2 great experienced CBs, Evans are doing great, and 2 young CB with big potentials actually both are in England squad .. the perfect balance that any club should be having?
I don't think he needs to 'deflect' from anything. This is just standard SAF, keeping the headlines on himself and keeping the media, fans and other teams running around after him chasing shadows. We are winning games at will, on track for our highest ever PL points total, not far off being on track for our highest ever goals scored, qualified from the CL group in just four games, and still in all three major competitions. Our defence might be a cause for concern if it was costing us points, but it simply isn't - out of 11 points we have dropped this season eight were dropped in games where we only conceded one goal. Our defence has probably suffered due to Vidic being out for the long term, Rio getting on and Jones and Smalling both getting injured at the same time, but it's probably also thanks to our attack. In the same way a team that creates loads of chances in a game is usually much more profligate than a team that only creates three or four, so a team with an attack that can score for fun usually won't defend as effectively or as desperately as a team that may only score one goal and thus has to keep a clean sheet to win. And whilst our defence is nowhere near the solid rock it was in 07, 08 and 09, our attack is even stronger than it was when we had Ronaldo in the team - we are just 14 goals away from scoring more than we did in 08/09 when we strolled the league with 90 points and plenty of room to spare. So where's the problem?
