Hopefully on a permanent deal (which I imagine it is) but he's a young lad so one for the future.... http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22214/blues-close-to-adding-wolves-striker
Wow... so we have Chops, Scotland, Murray, Ellington, (JET sort of) as our own and Murphy, Mclean, and McGoldrick and now maybe Nouble as long as we outscore the other team i'll be happy!
Just come across this piece of news.... http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/080113-dyer-departs-585832.aspx He was average when he came back to us but on a 'pay as you play' deal he could certainly be useful as he seems to be injury free to have some level of fitness* *at current time of writing (11:18 on 08/01/13)
At 21 you can either score goals or you can't. With the exception of Ian Wright and Ian Marshall any striker worth their salt breaks into the first team around that age. He's not an Ian so hopefully he will keep the loanees out. Murray and Scotland appear to have no future at Town.
Difficult call, his attitude is just not right (he suddenly gets fit when 'Arry is in Town). I saw him at Elland Road a couple of years ago for Town and he offered very little. His real talent was always running at defenders and he can't do that anymore. He scored Saturday, but still, it always amazes me that people are willing to offer him a contract.
I was having a similar conversation with a Leicester fan at work just last week.. How does he keep getting contracts?? and fairly lengthy ones at that.. as you said it may simply be a case of he's fit and eager when he wants to be (impress the manager) and then goes back to the physio's office after a couple of weeks.. I think he is a prime example of a player losing that spark that made him decent and probably would struggle to ever play 3 matches in a month such is his lack of fitness and complete lack of match sharpness
He was all about the money. I know I talk about it every time his name crops up but I went to school with him and he used to play footie in my back garden. He loves Ipswich Town but once he'd made some millions and could look after his mum and have a playboy lifestyle that was job done for him. He is probably as baffled as we are that people want to keep paying him. I think he would move back to Town for very, very modest wages. I know that Ipswich Town is the only time money doesn't come into it and he wouldn't have chosen to move anywhere if it wasn't for getting to play under Sir Bobby.
Nouble - not sure about. Heard his name and the potential he had. Seems strange he only appeared twice for Wolves and havent really seen much of him. Worries me as it seems very JET like in history (Started with lots of hype at a big club, plenty of loans, moved down a level and hasnt adjusted properly) MM obviously knows him so I will trust his judgement. Dyer - God no.
Not sure to think of this Nouble guy, he's always looked a handful whenever I've seen him, bit like Darren Bent without the goals. I think this definitely indicates the way we are going under MM, pace and power!! Surely this would spell the end for some of our current strikers and maybe even DJ, I mean how many strikers do we want?? I'm a little bit confused by this tbh on many levels: a) why MM who I thought wouldn't try and change things too much in this transfer window has brought 3 strikers in b) I'm not overly enamoured by any of them, I mean none of them have been getting in their respective teams at Championship level and none have ever been consistent at this level. c) how after our summer of trying to be really prudent we can suddenly afford to have all these strikers on our books!! I have no doubt MM will do well here but sometimes my heart does groan at some of his signings. How I see MM is he could probably get any set of players playing well as he does things simple and organises teams, he actually plays decent football but who he recruits means his teams play a certain way, he tends to go for pace and power and graft over footballing ability so I believe this limits his teams to a certain point when they get to a certain level or against certain teams. I believe this would take him to the next level as a manager if he were to change his recruitment style slightly and is why his Wolves team has struggled because not so good managers have taken over and aren't able to get what Mick could out of his players!!
just popped over to see if you were all talking up kieron dyer's return. the reason he keeps getting contracts is because he's a talented player - managers probably feel that law of averages means he'll be fit for a year at some point. could have been a brilliant player with a better attitude and more luck with injuries. he's arguably the best player i've seen play for ipswich in my lifetime. on a side note, nouble signing eh? reckon if he ever gets in your team it'll be out wide - he's not really a striker. best way to describe him is 'nomadic'. three strikers coming in in one week - does this mean no return for dj campbell? can't see him getting much game time at qpr once redknapp starts splashing the cash...
Spot on about Nouble. He will be deployed out wide and will be Lee Martin's replacement. At long last a player that actually produces a decent delivery! Nice one Mick keep em coming!
Supers... I can't agree with that. He was in that list of Worst England XI and quite rightly so He was a bit of a one trick pony. Like I said, in possession in the opponent's half probably second to none in Premier League history but Matt Holland has to be the outstanding Town player since the mid-eighties and actually I think Dos Santos, while he doesn't run so much at defenders or quite have the pace that Dyer had in his prime, has got a much better touch for a pass and eye for goal.
Supermans description of Nomadic doesnt draw up pictures of decent final ball in my mind. As previously said I have seen very little of him so not having a dig its just the fact that I often think of Martin and JET as fairly nomadic! Hopefully its just the way I interept things and not a like for like replacement.
Of course PTC bringing in players that aren't playing regularly for their clubs or in Lower Leagues are all crap aren't they? Just look at who Norwich have signed over the past couple of years! I am so pleased that we have got away from the Paul Jewell Scatter gun approach where every player in the Premiership no matter how old they are is far better than younger players. I'm not sure who you really expect us to sign given our current position in the League.
Nouble will be a great addition, I have no doubt about that. As for Campbell, if 'Arry manages to land Remy I can't see Campbell wanting to warm the bench there and watch his career extinguished.
Not really sure Mick has signed him as a winger. To me it seems Mick generally prefers to play round pegs in round holes and would've probably bought an out and out winger if he'd want a winger!! Have to agree with you Supers on Dyer, very very talented player, if it weren't for his injuries I genuinely believe he would've had far more england caps and played for a much bigger team. I really do think he would have got in the England team not just squad even in the golden generation because he had blistering pace but not only that quality on the ball and end product, something very rare in a player with pace!! Such a waste of talent. I'm in 2 minds about us trying to get a deal for him, I reckon we could probably get him on a very modest wage with perhaps the promise of becoming a coach at academy level. We could certainly do with a bit of quality in that central position and if he's going to be on a pay as you play and low wage I think it could be a risk worth taking. But it sounds like a very PJ thing to do, can't imagine Mick doing something like that!!
There is no way that Dyer will ever come back to Ipswich he is a crock! He's been taking the piss for years whilst banking the Millions! Its about time he retired it's not as if he's short of a few bob! I will have far more respect for him if he comes back to coach the youngsters just like Jason Dozzell is doing
I'm not saying that at all. But all of his signings haven't played regular football at this level this season. And it's not as if none of them have played at this level, all have played a quite a few games at this level and none of them have a good record!! For me they'll all very average players but like I said Mick can get alot out of average players, so I'm not overly concerned about it. I think McGoldrick could well be decent as he has talent but has never lived up to it. JWM I'm trying to take these signings on their merits, it would be interesting to see what your opinion on these players would've been had PJ signed them!!
I think if Jewell were still here then Dyer would be on his way to Town but he's not Mick's type of player. I would play him ahead of NRC any day of the week. I don't think he will be hanging up his boots yet, a Championship side will come in for him.
33 caps is not just a squad player! He was an integral member of the England team in the early 2000s. But 'golden generation'? Do me a favour. The England side since David Seaman hung up his boots has been nothing but a joke.
