Come three o'clock on saturday afternoon, every fan expects their team to win. It doesn't matter if you up against Lionel Messi, the ghost of Geroge Best and a time-travelling Pele, any fan worth their salt will sing on their team, cheer their heart out and expect to walk away with three points... However, in the cold light of day, we know that there are teams that are going to be more technically proficient than us and that such teams can't have an off-day every week, nor can our boys play a blinder every week. Presuming nothing more than pride was on the line, who would you expect us to put up a good fight but ultimately lose against?
I rarely expect us to win actually I would give us a 60% chance of beating Villa though, which is perhaps a little generous, but I would be disappointed if we lost that one.
I would be very angry if we lost to Villa. We should get at least a point against Villa. If we lose to Villa we would have played massively below par as Villa are a very, very average side at best.
Always expect to lose to Everton. These days, reckon we'll probably always lose to Chelsea too. Other than that, always think we have a chance, however slight.
After a few games, I thought we would lose to everyone. I now think we can get a point or points against everyone below top 6/8...any points against the top clubs will just be a bonus.
i expect us to win every game. Its not until we go 2 - 0 down that I start to consider that maybe, just maybe, we wont.
There will be always be teams who turn up on the day and perform above expectations, e.g. as people above have mentioned, Bristol City, Tranmere, Rochdale etc. As far as me not having a hope in hell in advance that we'll get anything at all, never. I always think that Saints will turn up and deliver, and sometimes, you know, they do!
I'd like to think we can, with luck and a fair wind, beat anyone at St Marys. That said, I wasn't expecting us to get much change out of Arsenal, so the point was a bonus. I won't exude much confidence at our next 2 home games vs Everton & Man City, and I won't hold my breath against Chelsea, but the rest of our home games are all very winnable imo.
