I totally disagree that foreign players are better to watch. Any way your reputation for pissing contests precedes you so that is my final word. Au Revoir, Adios, Gute Nacht. Ciao

Nice to have a grown up reason out of you in the end redruth, it took a while, I think you were doing all the "pissing" as you politely called it. I just asked you a simple question which you simply didn't answer.

If you think I come on here for the sole purpose of this "pissing" then you are sadly mistaken, I try my hardest not to say anything I don't have a reason for.

If you don't like discussion then I would suggest a discussion board is not for you. If you want agreeance then I'm sure you'll find a willing partner in any mirror situated within your household.

this is not true. before the advent of the PL many clubs were able to win the 1st division league title, such as Derby, Notts F and even some little teams as there were hardly any non British players in any team, all transfer money stayed in the British leagues, meaning smaller clubs were able to sell their stars to bigger clubs and attain financial security.

Now that is a genuine reason not to want foreign players in our game of which I cannot argue with. Its a limitation to the quality of the top clubs which evens things out a bit more.

Plastic fans are my major problem especially since I'm from an area with quite an unfashionable football team where the local sports are more or less dominated by the local Rugby and Cricket teams. There is 212,000 people here egg chasers aside I know roughly 12 people who support the Cobblers, especially considering the amount of people I know who are born and bred in Northampton who support Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs it's beyond ridiculous, whats even worse is whey they start attending the odd glory supporting game so they have a complete sense of entitlement if you dare accuse them of being a plastic fan.

I was of the same opinion until we went down to League 1, I can fully understand why those teams struggle to get the fans in.

Is there such a thing as a plastic Norwich fan? Appreciate there might be a few new fans now we're plying our trade at the top table but you could hardly call them "glory hunters" <laugh>

I can remember a dark, cold, Tues night against Plymouth that was a sell out in L1. I think our fans are a pretty solid bunch. (Not including Pink'un forum users obviously).

There are the few odd people will only go and see Norwich play Man United, Man City and Chelsea, not bothering with the lower league teams.

Tradition and pride no matter how misguided. The football was diabolical in the lower leagues but at the same time we all stuck by our team and supported them through thick and thin. Most of us were at that Colchester game even after the feeling of anger doom and despair most of us experienced we still went back.

One other thing I notice plastics do, is they attend their local teams games as a secondary fan it's not exactly a bad thing but when you have Arsenal and Liverpool fans claiming to be experts on Northampton and acting like their the clubs number one fans it's absolutely cringeworthy. When their Premiership teams lose badly or have a bad patch the provincial lower league salt of earth fan act creeps out of the woodwork.

attendance vs wycombe at home, the game after the colchester game = 23,428

that's loyalty - ability, league status and form were irrelevant to all who attended because all who went go to support their club. they are obviously happier when things are going well but we have a hardcore of fans who will be there, no matter what. and all lower league clubs have the same, even if it is smaller than we used to get.

just going back to the foreign thing - how would people feel about limiting the number of foreign players they can have in a squad? cricket had the one foreign star rule and it meant that only the very best cricketers came to these shores - its not done too much harm! say clubs were only allowed to have 8 foreign stars in their entire squad of 25, it might keep the standard relatively high, help younger english players break through and also allow us to only see the best foreign stars. it would also stop the likes of arsenal constantly buying young foreign talent to sit on the bench rather than developing their own. just a thought - not one i'm particularly bothered about!

Supers, when you have such an abundance of knowledge it's quite common to miss the simple stuff! I notice on University Challenge that the simple (to me) answers often have these intellectuals in a quandry!<ok>

Mind you half of our foreign contigent aren't European. I know Bettey Tettey is supposed to be Norwegian but he isn't is he, he was 13 when he moved.
