That is perfectly reasonable for a proven premier league striker. The last proven premier league striker (bent) went for around £24m i think so why not that value for DG ??

Joe Allen was the first Swans player ever that went for correct market value and long may that continue,we have been getting ripped off for years IMO.

Bloody hell that's got to be a joke, they won't pay that amount for him. Newcastle seem a more likely move if he's to go and I would say £6m would be the value. We can use the funds to get others in. But to be honest I want to keep him.

Beat me to it, scfc! I heard it being discussed on Talk Sport via my car radio and by the time I got indoors you had posted. Interestingly, the presenters (Gough + someone) seemed to think we should hold onto him because he has served his Premier League apprenticeship, is back in the goals and a big asset for us.

I agree with all of that but TWELVE MILLION QUID???????? Even if it's a couple short of that, imagine what Michael Laudrup could do with that sort of money. Of course, it might well just be a rumour and tomorrow we'll find Lambert denying the whole thing. But, interestingly, he does seem to be a manager who prefers the domestic product over foreign imports. Can't think of that many foreign players that he has signed. Perhaps he doesn't know the market that well and Danny does fit the profile of the type of player he likes to sign.

Anyway, no doubt we shall be debating this until we know one way or the other but, if there is any truth to this, my take is to grab the money. I am a Danny fan and have always wanted him to stay because I am sure he will get goals for us. BUT for this sort of money, and knowing what good use ML would make of it, seems to make this a no brainer for us.

Is he or isn't he .... depends on how much he's scoring and how badly they need his goals. At this point, we need goals like every other team, we have a guy who seems to have recovered his sense of direction. Unless we can acquire a better replacement or equivalent for less money, it makes no sense to sell him for any money. Two words ... Jason Scotland .... remember Jason, we lost 29 goals when we lost him - we just couldn't find a replacement until we came upon Sinclair and he only lasted one season. It's tough to buy goals.

12m would be a very good price at the moment. If he ends the season with same goals per minutes as last season then 12m is a fair price. Age wise he should be hitting his prime now.

yeah but from what Jinx says - we would not have been able to sustain our push without the money from Jase the Ase and Honest Bob, sometimes good things come out of it....

Well one things for certain, Danny boy has well and truly caught the attention of other Premiership managers, and if Lambert wants to pay £12 Million, then I'm all for moving him on, but I have always rated Danny boy, and I think he's got his focus back, so should be good for another 10 goals at least this second half of the season!...........<ok>

Risky proposition and tough decision. Those were tougher times back then. Manager wise we have done brilliantly since but we needed Sousa to cope with the loss of Jason (IMO - hope this doesn't lead us off on a tangent). We have good cash flow now and perhaps we can be more discerning. Moving players in other positions on for money is one thing, but strikers that can hit the net are a rare commodity and it can be a fleeting advantage.

News to me but The Times recon he's gone for just £4 mill. If true, bad business all round as the mackem fans don't want him (a magpie) and we have been screwed on value and will be missing an important squad striker with loads of games coming up. Then again, The Times is just a posh Murdoch rag afterall !

Sky Sports news are running it also, but not as their own story, just as a headline in what the papers say. You would think that as both were part of Murdoch's empire, if Sky were confident in the story they would running it themselves without hiding behind The Times headline. Perhaps a cynical ploy to get more hits at a Murdoch rag, perhaps not.

If true, I only hope we have someone else lined up immediately and the value shows that the rumours behind DGs off the field activities held some weight and ML/the board wanted shot of him......time will tell.

Graham is a better all round player than Jones.

I actually quite rate Kenwyne Jones, would certainly add something different to the team dynamic. Don't want to see DG go, but a straight swap for Jones might not be too bad, reckon Jones has a bit to prove and think he'd enjoy his football much more here...he's got a good touch for a big man...blah blah, and all that ;)
