Anyone fancy a cheep bid for Myhill back? They would be trying to ship out one or both of Carson/Myhill as Woy doesnt rate them. I also havent heard any news on Westwood who is leaving Cov on a free this summer. He is a very good goal keeper having watched him at Carlisle numerous times i would be very very keen on him, but premiership clubs were touting him??
The question is who do you rate better: Manonne Myhill Guzan My guess is the board would be willing to pay up to ã1.5m (realistic value of all of them), for my money I would take them as listed, Manonne is an excellant all round goalkeeper with tons of potential and re sale value. Not seen much of Westwood, but have heard he is decent, may end up been a reserve in the Premiership though
Personally, I'd go: Westwood (I think he'll be in the PL next season) Manonne Eilhoff (I've no reason to put him above Myhill and Guzan, I've never seen him play, but he's my lucky dip selection!) Myhill/Guzan (similar ability)
Myhill was good at throwing him self in front of the ball but not much else imo. He will forever be a legend for his performance against Spurs. Having seen Mannone I would take him in a heartbeat. My only problem with Mannone is he has been injured 50% of the time. Hopefully it has just been badluck.
I think your being a bit harsh on Myhill there, your putting him before a keeper who you've never seen play and who is playing at a poor standard. Also, your putting him par with Guzan, who was pretty poor. Do you not remember this? Personally i'd go: Mannone/Myhill Westwood Guzan/Eilhoff
I don't think there's a fat lot between Guzan, Myhill or Duke(I'd probably put them in that order, but only just). From what I've seen of Mannone and Westwood I'd say they both have a more complete game than Myhill, he was a great shot stopper, but his positioning and distribution were exceptionally poor. The Eilhoff one was a bit tongue in cheek, I've no idea what he'll be like, so I just bunged him in the middle!
id love Myhill back, top quality championship keeper personally thought Guzan was a bit of a clumsy oaf..
90% of city fans were slagging off myhill because of his mistakes, poor clearances and even worse distribution. his 1 good asset was shot stopping.. now everyone would take him back ? step in the wrong direction i think. also dont forget we need 2 keepers this window. a no.1 and a backup. unless oxley is rated by pearson... Westwood or Manonne as no.1 Eilhoff or Smithies from Huddersfield (if they dont get promoted) as backup.
The commenter said Altidore was given compassionate leave as he has relatives in Hayeeti, and it was a fine save by Bos Myhill. I didn't even bother listening to any more of it.
watching that video again after a few years... we looked bloody awful. myhill had his best game for us for sure, but the defence... SHOCKING did u hear the start of it too "Craig ***an as the lone striker" .... well done browny, spot on with your tactics as always...
Myhill was an awesome shot stopper but he had the most horrendous distribution, embarrassingly poor at times, the best all round 'keeper we've ever had is Manonne in my view, however the lad has been perma-crocked for the last 4-5 months which is a real worry. Guzan is as capable as Myhill, not a great deal between them i'd say except for potential fees to sign them.....it's a really tough decision, I think we're unlikely to sign Westwood as I think he'll defo go somewhere in the Prem. Manonne Myhill Guzan
Myhills distribution wasn't even that bad, and its something that could easily be worked on with our new goalkeeping coach. I can't see how it is a step backwards as Myhill is still only young in goalkeeping terms. How many mistakes did myhill actually make leading to goals? Because no major ones stick in my mind. Myhill is a brilliant shot stopper, which is a goalkeepers main job, he won us so many points in the premier league!!
I suspect there's some selective amnesia here, Myhill's distribution was utterly appalling, one in every three goal kicks didn't even stay on the pitch!
In his early days his kicking was fine, it was in the premier league when he struggled, when he was asked to hit the right winger on the touchline. He's bound to hit the odd kick out of play when asked to do that. His kicking out of his hands was generally pretty good.
I'd have Myhill back in the Championship, he's a top keeper at this level, I think anxieties crept into his game in the Premiership which wasn't surprising given he had the likes of Mcshane, Gardner, and Zayette in front of him.
I think the 93rd minute against Arsenal, March 13th last year, will always stick in my mind as one of the most depressing mistakes a City player has ever made, losing that game after holding on for so long with 10 against Arsenal alomst made me cry :-(
Yeah that was the one i could remember, it wasnt a terrible error but he should have held the initial shot from denilson
