Anyone remember the guy we were all set to sign in the summer until his Club decided to hold onto him because of injuries to other players? I think he could play left or right back and was an international. I haven't seen any updates but understand that it very nearly went through. Seems to me that even with Rose on loan this guy would be a good acquisition: we need a right back and his signing would also strengthen our hand in any negotiation with Spurs for Danny as we would not be seen to be "over a barrel" and desperate.
    Any thoughts or updates?

Remember that not sure of his name though and thought he was a LB only.
Just seen joes post Strinic seems about right for his name.

That's the guy. Was highly rated. I don't think he was a big money signing. Anyone know if he is fit and available?

Ther was a mini article from him speaking about us

Basically said he was gutted that he never came as the english league is the best in the world but since then he has worked hard and his performances are showing that and he is happy playing for dnipro

I will find it and put it on here later on

Just a left back mate, apparently he is very solid with his defending but likes to get forward, good on the ball and can put a decent ball into the middle

Poolies right very highly rated player who did have his heart set on coming here and my all accounts was going to be looked at again in this transfer window. Unfortunately Rosies performances and development may have put paid to that....IF.... we can secure Rosies permanant transfer

I read an article at the weekend which said that Rose will become Spurs regular LB next season as Ekoto (spelling) is to move on. If true it is a big shame because I would have loved to have seen him sign for us.

Don't know if you guys heard but we recently Fryers who can play left back. The logical choice for us, if we rate Fryers as a left back, is that Benny stays and we sell Rose for more money than we'd get for Benny as by the time Benny's on the decline Fryers could be up to replacing him. I certainly can't see us selling Benny unless he kicked up a fuss, he's loved by all the Spurs fans and I can't see that changing. We'll know better what our plan is for Fryers by the end of the season, I still reckon you stand a good chance of getting him then.

Based on his performances I reckon LM could become Rose's best position. He is one tremendous fetcher/carrier.

Yeah we kind of do but Vertonghen needs to play centre back where he's best, Naughton looks crap there and not a particularly good player even on his favoured right side, Bale was never great at defending and his attacking play has progressed far too much to move our best player out of position. I don't mind any of them playing there as a last resort if we have injuries but I think we need a better quality back up, whether Fryers will be that remains to be seen.

He was a winger all throughout his career until Redknapp told him he needed to play at left back if he was going to make it at a Premier League club. Having seen him play since he was 15 I've always felt he should be a winger but to his credit he's doing really well at left back and I have to concede it looks like Harry is right on this one.

Rose is still raw but has great heart and real pace. A move to us rather than another 2 or 3 seasons on the Spurs bench is the best option for the lad but that's not his or our decision to make. I sincerely hope we can sign him but right now, I think its totally up in the air.

I think Rose is a class LB. I think its the perfect position for him. If we get him I will be very happy.

I just hope this mew midfielder is decent because that's the area of the pitch where we are having problems.

I'd agree with that. I like the lad, he's never caused any trouble that I'm aware of, which tends to be a problem when you give a youngster a lot of money.
