i agree, it was more a tongue in cheek comment in i think they are the only club who would be looking at him and could afford the money, def what they need with Crouchy and Jones up front, at least Downing would have someone in the box to aim at there.

doubt they would want to offer more than £5 mill for him though, the buying club hold the aces sadly, they all know we want rid, same as the Cole situation, and i don't think Downing is on too shabby wages either, another problem in getting rid of him.

i think we can nurse it until we need to get rid, frankly right now our fornt three could be sturridge suarez sterling and he's an expensive sub but in reality someone's got to cover and until borini is fit and shows SOMETHING we do need someone.

lets see what happens.... there might just be a desperate club out there in this window (like the mooted sunderland0 who might pay 10mil.

    Completely forgot about him!

So cover would be assaidi, pacheco, Borini, Enrique. Think if 10 mil came calling we should do it.

Even still, you have 3 players that can fill the void. Again 10 million, I say do it and see if you can't bring in a Muniain, Isco, type.

Bottom line is, we need someone more like Suarez who makes something out of nothing to replace Downing who more or less makes nothing out of something. <ok>

    <laugh> <ok>

We definitely need someone creative to play on one of the wings or in the attacking midfield position. **** all use having all these goalscorers (Borini, Sturridge, Suarez) in attack if we haven't got anyone to get the ball to them.

As for Downing he has been ok recently but I suspect he is only being viewed as decent because he's been a little bit better (recently) than most of the other dross we have had polluting our wide areas on a weekly basis over the last 10 years. I'd be happy with anything over 5m for him.

  10. FFS lads, we create lots of chances and just need a goalscorer, sign Sturridge who is seen as a goalscorer and now we need creative players. Some people are never bloody happy! <doh>

Not that many good chances though. FFS.

  12. We create enough. Having Sturridge and Sterling gives us plenty of pace. The opposition will have to make a decision on their backline: play high and these two will get in behind, play deep and Suarez will twist them inside out. Sterling and Sturridge are both tricky runners with the ball too <ok>

but Assaidi is off to ACON, Enrique is injured and I dont Henderson is good out wide, much better in the center. We need depth

Unless some crazy billionaire football club owner hires Kenny Dalglish and let's him loose in the transfer market, then no one in there right mind is going to give you 12 million for Downing

Fair enough. But think of our 4-3-3 that we usually play. (Or could play during the injuries/ACON)

    ----------------Reina----------------
    -Wisdom---Skrtel---Agger---Johnson-
    ----------------Lucas---------------
    --------Gerrard--------Allen---------
    -Sterling-------------------Suarez--
    -------------Sturridge--------------

We have Borini to come in for any of the front 3, as well as Enrique when back, and Assaidi when back. Seeing as how Pacheco has been practically forced out of the club, he won't play, but he could in an emergency.

No room IMO for Downing, who needed to be treated like a baby to get himself "kickstarted" after a year and half of collecting his pay and delivering poor performances.

Edit: forgot to mention Shelvey and Henderson who can be utilised anywhere in the midfield, but that's a stretch.

    We have Suso to.

But what that list of names lacks is experience.
