Please can we keep the posts relating to the banning in one thread rather than in multiple threads.

Everyone knew it was going to be Messi, personally I wanted Ronaldo to win it, they always said he would need to show up in the big games to stand a chance and hes done that by being the key player for Real in the last half a dozen El Clasico's while having a goal scoring record comparable to Messi's. I'm also not surprised that the entire team of the year was made up of players based in Spain, all from Barcelona and Real Madrid plus Falcao.

Wanted Ronaldo to win an thought he deserved it, but people were always going to vote for Messi after he broke the most goals in a year record.

Thought the world XI was a joke. 11 players from 3 teams. 10 of those players were from two teams. Sums up La Liga though. I would have had Cole at LB, Kompany at CB, RVP up top and probably have fit Mata and Pirlo in the midfield as well.

I personally think Messi should have won it and deserved to win it BUT i do find it a bit ridiculous that Fifa have proved they're bias because of this

In the last Ballon D'Or Ronaldo had outscored Messi but Barca had won la liga as opposed to Madrid who won the copa del rey so Messis goals did lead to more success / had a better impact for the team so i can see why they gave it to Messi.

Now in this one, Messi outscored Ronaldo but Madrid won la liga and Barca only managed the copa del rey, so Ronaldos goals led to more success / had a better impact on the team yet they gave it to Messi.

So i don't quite understand their logic

As for the team of the year that was just ridiculous and makes me wonder if these people actually watched la liga and the cl and the euros as opposed to just looking at fifa ratings.

    Front 3 ( C.R, Falcao, L.M ) I agree with

Midfield i agree with, maybe i would have had Pirlo over Alonso but i can understand Alonso.

Defence - What a joke, Pique i thought was rubbish last season whenever he wasn't injured, Ramos wasn't at his best, Marcelo was on and off - either qualtiy or a headless chicken and Alves was just Alves, got continually done throughout the season defensively.

Would have had Kompany & Hummels as the CB partnership or maybe one of the Juventus' CBs instead of Hummels

Lahm for RB easily, he was quality in the CL, League and Euros

And would have opted for Cole as LB

As for Goalkeeper, Casillas was a joke, was nowhere near as good as he usually is last season and this is purely based on reputation and name. Buffon and Cech were much better

I pretty much agree with most of that, although I would of probably put Lahm at left back (he can play both sides just as well) and Lichsteiner at right back, he has been brilliant for Juventus since he joined them, many people consider him to be the best attacking right full back in the world at the moment.

Surprised Van Persie has not got in there the seasons he has just had at Arsenal and now at United.

knew Messi will win and he deserves it too but personally i wanted Ronaldo to win it because he did score goals and inspired Real Madrid to La Liga win last season and almost single handily took Portugal to the euro 2012 semi final.

i feel sad for Ronaldo because he's not getting the credit he deserves. its a shame he's being over looked, what he does goes unnoticed, he also scored vital goals against Barcelona but Messi did deserve to win it after 91 goals but its a shame Ronaldo didn't too.

also the team of the year is full of La Liga player's. It is biased towards that league because im sure Van Persie should be in there, im not saying this because im a united fan but im sure everyone should admit that Van persie should of been there. its just ridiculous.

Pretty much this with RVP instead of Falcao. (Insert debate about how it's harder to score goals in the Premier league than it is in la Liga)

Who could you take out for RVP though? Falcao deserves to be in there tbh, RVP was quality for Arsenal but Falcao was quality for Atletico and led them to Europa and Super cup glory scoring 5 altogether in the process.

RVP was quality but Falcao was better imo and his goals led to success for his team

Agreed, he should've been named in the world team of the year.

I would say RVP is better than Falcao at the moment though, mainly because RVP has gone up another level since he joined United and doesn't just look like a world class finisher but looks like world class finisher + world class all round player.

But based on last season Falcao had to get it and deserved it <ok>

RVP is the only reason Arsenal is anywhere near Europe this season. I wasn't too bothered by That though. Just personally i would have had RVP in there instead.
