Good read in the mail today http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2257370/Kevin-Kilbane-talks-money-football.html
I remember him, cant remember the name now, really young, had high hopes for him, but never heard of again, Id know the name if someone said it
Yes it is a good read, and basically he is say there is no fast track to get to the status of a regular EPL team, unless of cause you have owners like Chelsea and Man City. If you do get there, you have to spend the wind fall of TV money on building a good infrastructure at the club, and not spend all the money on players and players wages. That might mean you have a 5 year plan, which could mean you being a yoyo club for these 5 years.
Exactly right, and fans should not get on the owners/managers back if that should happen, as long as there is progress year on year, they will get there in the end in a much better financial and structured way.
You dont have to spend stupid amounts of money to chase the dream. Clubs like Stoke, Norwich, Swansea are well run clubs and spend well. Hull City should have done the same. Dufferman was an idiot to pay the Like of Halmosi, McShane, Olifinjana, Bullard, Ghillas the money he did. Non of them were worth half what they got @ Hull City. Thankfully, we now have owners and a manager who know a players worth and value. £3.5m for Meyler and Brady is great business and will look to be peanuts IF we get back to the PL and the richies on offer there. i would like to see Kilbane back @ Hull City in a coaching role. Him and Dawson are good role models for kids.
I thought that at first, but in terms of building a squad gradually they have done that apart from the very first season when they spent like mad. Yes I've just re-convinced myself it's bollocks now. Carry on.
