I thought you would be pleased for us Warky, especially as you can now concentrate on pushing for a playoff spot!
Cheers Dave. I knew I'd get him tonight if he was hanging around. I'd already buttered him up by stating that we were playing the second best team in the region
Anyone seen welly tonight? Hopefully he has cheered up, he seemed a little stressed last night. Great draw and a real good chance for a cup run. Bet the Ipswich fans look like their sucking on lemons atm.
Anyone else out there who was at the game? I was 13 at the time and went with my Grandad. As always we went by train and whilst I can't remember much about the match itself I can remember being amazed at how cheerful everybody was on the way back - the attitude seemed to be that we had lost but what a wonderful time we've had getting here so lets have a sing song!! Several years later my Grandad did remind me that I had spent most of the following night sobbing like a baby. Go on City - give 'em a walloping for that 13 year old boy!!!
Only 8 so I wasn't allowed. Listened to it on the radio. Everything stopped for that. By the way 1950, Truro City are still playing but are more or less doomed to relegation, Barry Hayles has returned to play for expenses only which is nice. On the disgraceful side, the ex owner Heaney sold the ground to his wife's company shortly before administration and lo and behold, her company is currently in discussions with a property development company about putting houses on the ground. So poor old Truro may not have a ground to rent. I hope the Council is brave enough to block any attempt by these despicable bastards to carry out their objectives.
I wouldn't count your chickens on being live on T.V. if Man Ure go through (which I think they will) they will undoubtedly be on telly such is the ridiculous nature of the selectors That said you do have a shout to be on somewhere although I doubt you'll make it onto the illustrious ITV schedule, where football & horrendous punditry go together like pigs and ****
do you think the club will have similar pricing to the Villa Carling Cup Q/F for this one? £25 or £30 for adults. certainly we'd want a full house as that should play to our advantage. you'd have thought Luton would bring quite a few as well.
Bit like Pubcos selling viable Pubs to Tesco to turn into convenience stores. Everybody knew that Pubcos were just spivs and property developers and not interested in running Pubs but neither local or National Government will do anything to stop it although they have the power to do something. Trouble with Football Clubs is that Supporters hear of somebody promising to put money in to buy players and they get excited and the Club is sold. Nobody, including the Authorities, look into the background of the buyer and when they turn out to be criminals, fraudsters or asset strippers it is too late and you end up with a bankrupt Club in chaos and freefall. That is why we should all be eternally gratefull to Delia as she would only sell out to somebody she knew would genuinely look after the Club.
I would have thought that £25 or £30 was a fair price. Cup games are the Clubs only extra source of income and with a big chunk of the takings going to Luton and the FA they will need to charge that sort of money in order to make a bob or two especially if it is not on tele.
