I would accept it. Kayal hasn't been the same since his injury last season when Elbows done him without even being booked.

Can't see us spending that mount in one player. Not our current policy, which is to sign cheaply and sell on with profit. Our scouting system is immense.

The latest transfer news at the Emirates is in-and now Arsenal seem to have their sights set on Celtic’s, Victor Wanyama. According to reports, Celtic value Wanyama at £10 million, and rightly so. Arsenal must out-bid other Premier League powerhouses if they are truly set on signing the Kenyan international.

Victor Wanyama may fit into the Arsenal scheme perfectly-serving as an ideal replacement to Alex Song who made way to Barcelona this past summer. Wanyama is superb on the ball, and can both create attacks as well as defend with absolute tenacity. The Gunners would benefit greatly if Wanyama is to sign, as he is versatile in being able to take on defensive midfield duties along coupling with solid center back work, if need be.

Arsenal are also currently preparing a £8 million deal for Wigan Athletic’s, James McCarthy. The Ireland international is heavily touted at the Emirates after his quite impressive first half of the Premier League season for the Lactics. Arsenal, however, are not the only potential suitors for the 22 year-old as both Everton and Liverpool have a keen eye on signing McCarthy.

McCarthy has proved he can maintain excellent fitness along with a string of consistent performances for Wigan so far this season. The Irishman has 21 starts so far in the Premier League for the Lactics, sporting 2 goals and 1 assist.

Both McCarthy and Wanyama fit the typical talented youth approach that Arsene Wenger continues to stick with, however, Arsenal must do a great deal of convincing for Celtic to release what may be their biggest puzzle piece, Wanyama, to potentially see Celtic through against Juventus in the Champions League.

The Gunners have been linked to numerous big names, Adrian Lopez, David Villa, and now the latest of Wanyama and McCarthy-but who will Arsenal move for first?

Hooper or Wanyama out for 8-10m and one player in for £4m is probably not too far off our current transfer policy.

If Celtic can get £5m for Kayal then they should take it...

He, in my opinion, is no longer a 1st team regular!

For me it's,only my opinion, Brown, Ledley , Wanyama for centre with Forrest, Sammy and Commons for the wide berths. Mulgrew can also play LM (and even Izzy). Ambrose could alos play CM if needed. I'd say Midfield is covered enough to sell Kayal.

I certainly hope they don't. Buying cheap or signing free contracts is our signing
policy and it is certainly serving us well just now. Only an idiot would change that.

I want Kayal to stay - when he's on-form, he's my favourite player, still.

He's better than Ki and he went for £8m <grr>

anyone else think it's strange how much ki divided opinion? i thought he was a great footballer, however if i named the best 11 (last season) he would never be in my midfield. i also thought the money we got was a decent price.

I like Beram Kayal a lot - he works hard and always gives 100%. I think he's an excellent holding midfielder and much better than Ki Sung-Yueng in that role, though the latter is certainly a better attacking midfielder, being a very capable goalscorer. It just seems to me that Beram Kayal couldn't buy a goal at the moment and I find myself getting frustrated with his too numerous wasted shots which don't even hit the target never mind the back of the net. In saying that, I'd prefer we keep him in a defensive role but if we do sell I think he's worth a lot more than £5m, given that we got £8m for Ki Sung-Yueng.

    Kayal will score soon <ok>

He's saving himself for the winner in Turin.

Apparently, his agent released a statement today that has "hedging your bets" written all over it.

One of those, "the CL with Celtic is fantastic and Celtic are a dream club, blah blah, but every player wants to play in the EPL one day so I will wait and see" :(

Personally, I'd have preferred a statement along the lines of "I'm a tim noo and any sassenach-Murdochslave wide-os think they can take me away fae Paradise can get their tongues round my considerable helmet" <ok>

Love Kayal, but i do agree with Alba that he hasn't been the same player since Elbows and that 50/50 in the OF game from 2 seasons ago. Hopefully with a bit of time he'll get back in to the swing of things. I get moist just thinking of the OF game at Ibrox when Forster got sent off, it all looked like it had gone to ****, and then our midfield - and the rest - ended up playing the dirtbags off he park with a man down, whilst Broony laughed in Diouf's face. Kayal played a huge part in that draw (which felt like a win!).
